Chromosomes are also responsible for passing down genetic disorders or diseases. If a person has a mutated chromosome pair, then children will be more likely to inherit a genetic disorder such as cystic fibrosis, Huntington's disease, sickle cell anaemia or any number of other genetic disorders.
