Nuclear energy is the fifth-largest source of producing energy in India after coal, gas, wind electricity, and hydroelectricity. At present, India has 22 operational nuclear reactors with an installed capacity of approximately 6,780 MW. Presently, India has 22 nuclear electricity reactors working in 7 states, with an established capability of 6780 MegaWatt electric powered (MWe).
18 reactors are Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors (PHWRs) and 4 are light Water Reactors (LWRs).

A nuclear power Station is a producing station that converts nuclear strength into electric energy. A generation station that converts nuclear electricity into electrical energy is a Nuclear power Station. In Nuclear energy stations, there are 4 stages.
These four stages are:-

Turbine
Generator
The general public of the nuclear power plant in India is indigenously designed pressurised heavy water reactors (PHWRs), although Russian-designed WERs are in operation, with further WERs under construction.
As is the case with other countries with PHWRs, India has commenced the method of refurbishing its reactors to permit prolonged operation.
India has plans to grow its nuclear era extensively.
In January 2019 the department of Atomic energy (DAE) announced that India plans to build 21 new nuclear power reactors – which include 10 PHWRs – with a mixed production potential of 15, seven hundred MWe by 2031.
In October 2019 DAE chairman Kamlesh Vyas said that 17 nuclear energy reactors are deliberate further than those already beneath creation.
India’s Parliamentary Standing Committee on technological know-how & generation, surroundings, Forests, and climate alternate recommended in March 2020 that India needs to at least double the prevailing share of electricity generated with the aid of nuclear power by 2030.
