There is a total of 14 Central Public Sector enterprises that have been categorised as Navratan companies by the Indian government. These companies have so many benefits, like without government approval navratna companies could invest up to 1000 crore.
1. Bharat Electronics Limited: BEL was founded in 1954. It is a defence company that has 9 factories in India. It is Indian state-owned airspace with a revenue of 12,921 crores every year.
2. Container corruption of India: CONCOR, is a navratna public sector undertaking that comes under the Indian Railway ministry. It also takes over the existing network of seven Island containers deposed from the Indian Railway.
3. Engineers India Limited: EIL was founded in 1965. It is responsible for engineering and related Technology service for petroleum refineries. It also works in the field of petrochemical pipelines, terminals and storage infrastructure.
4. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited: HAL is Indian state-owned Aerospace in Bangalore. It comes under the Indian ministry of defence. It is an Aerospace and defence company that is involved in the operation of air space like design, jet engine helicopters and their spare parts.
5. Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited: MTNL is a state-owned telecommunication service in New Delhi. It was founded in 1986, it provides service in metro cities like New Delhi and Mumbai in India.
6. National aluminium company: NALCO, is one of the largest aluminium power complexes in India. It works in power generation rail and part operation and its headquarter is located in Bhubaneswar Odisha. This company is also the lowest-cost producer of grade aluminium in the world.
7. NBCC India Limited: NBCC India Limited was established in 1960 by the government of India under the Ministry of work housing and supply. The headquarters of NBCC is located in New Delhi. It was established as an implementing agency for projects under the Atal mission.
8. National Mineral department Corporation: NMDC is one of the largest Indian iron core producers. It is also responsible for producing more than 35 million turns of iron ore from 3 mines. It also involves Rock, copper, sulphate, limestone, Diamond, and graphite ore exploration.
9. Neyveli lignite corporation limited: NLC was established in 1956 by the government of India. It produces annually 30 million turns of lignite from open-cast mines in the state of Tamilnadu. This lignite is used as a thermal power station to produce electricity.
10. Oil India Limited: OIL, is a state-owned navratna that comes under India's Ministry of petroleum and natural Gas. It is responsible for the development and production of crude oil and natural gases. Its headquarters is located in Assam, India.
11. Power Finance Corporation: PFC, is one of the largest IPO of any Indian company. It provides services for financial products, financial consulting, investment banking and loan management.
12. Rashtriya Ispat Nigam: RIN, is also known as Vizag Steel. It is a public Steel producer located in Visakhapatnam India. It is one of the shore-based steel plants that is built with the help of state-of-the-art technology.
13. Ruler electrification Corporation Limited: RECL, is one of the public infrastructure finance companies in India's power sector. This company is responsible for providing loans to the central state sector power utensils in India.
14. Shipping Corporation of India: SCI, was established on 2 October 1961. Two more shipping companies also emerged with the Shipping Corporation of India. This corporation also got an award from the Indian government in 2008.
For navratna company: The company must first come under Miniratans and also have four independent directors.
For navratnas company: The company must have a score of 60 out of 100 on Profit before depreciation, interest and tax and also in total manpower cost and cost of service.
The Government of India categorised Central Public Inter Sector Enterprises under different categories and the Navratan companies are one of them. These companies get so many benefits from the government because they can invest 30% of their net worth in a whole year on a single project.
