One-third of members of the Rajya Sabha retire every two years.

The Rajya Sabha, or the Council Of States, is the upper house of the Indian parliament. The number of members in the Rajya Sabha is limited to 250 only. Rajya sabha conducts meetings in continuous sessions. They aren't subjected to dissolution.

Qualifications

  • Should be a citizen of India.

  • Make and subscribe before an authorized person, on behalf of the Election Commission, an oath according to the form set out regarding the third schedule to the Constitution.

  • Age should be at least 30 years according to article 84 India, the constitution of India.

  • Should Be elected by the Legislative Assembly of States and Union territories.

  • Should not be a criminal.

  • They should not be a subject of insolvency.

  • They should not hold any other office of profit under the name of the Indian Government.

  • Should be in the right mind.
