The most basic metric unit to measure the length is a millimeter or mm. There are also many other units, such as feet, inches, etc.
A foot is equal to 12 inches or one-third of a yard. It is also written as ‘ft’.
Feet are also used to measure small distances, elevations, etc.
So one foot will be equal to how many centimeters? Let’s Explore the answer.
The answer is one foot is equal to 30.48 cm. Both feet and centimeters are units to measure the length and distance between objects and places. Sometimes, 1 foot is written as 1` using the prime symbol.
1 ft = 30.48cm
As we know, one foot equals 30.48 cm. So to convert feet to cm, all we can do is to put the value of given feet into the following equation
\begin{equation}
\mathrm{Cm}=\text { Feet } \times 30.48 \mathrm{~cm}
\end{equation}
Feet (ft) | Conversion into cm | Centimeters(cm) |
1 | 1 x 30.48 | 30.48 |
2 | 2 x 30.48 | 60.96 |
3 | 3 x 30.48 | 91.44 |
4 | 4 x 30.48 | 121.92 |
5 | 5 x 30.48 | 152.40 |
Example 1: Convert 5 Feet in cm
Sol: Since 1 foot = 30.48 cm.
Therefore,
\begin{equation}
5 \text { Feet }=5 \times 30.48 \mathrm{~cm}=152.40 \mathrm{~cm}
\end{equation}
Hence, 5 Feet in cm are equivalent to 152.40 Centimeters.
Example 2: Convert 4.8 Feet in cm
Sol: As we know, cm = Feet x 30.48 cm,
Therefore,
\begin{equation}
4.8 \text { Feet in } \mathrm{cm}=4.8 \times 30.48 \mathrm{~cm}=146.304 \mathrm{~cm} \text {. }
\end{equation}
Example 3: Convert 5.12 Feet in cm
Sol: Using the conversion formula, we will get-
\begin{equation}
5.12 \text { feet in } \mathrm{CM}=5.12 \times 30.48=156.0576 \text {. }
\end{equation}
Therefore, 5.12 ft is equivalent to 156.0576 cm.
Yes, Feet is bigger than centimeters because, as we know, 1 ft= 30.48cm.
16 ft equals 487.68 cm.
10 cm equals 0.328084 ft.
Metre(m) is the SI unit of length.
0.0328084 Feet is equal to one Centimeter.
