250 in words is written as two hundred and fifty. We make use of the decimal system to write the number in words. For every digit in the number, there is some place value. The place value increases from left to right. Hence, for the given number 2 has the highest place value. Writing number in words help us to understand the meaning of the number or the amount of the quantity it represents. The number along with units is used to measure different physical quantities. Hence, understanding the value of the number helps us to understand the physical quantities.
The Decimal system is one of the number systems and has base 10. It means the numbers in the decimal system are expressed in power of 10. It has 10 basic numbers from 0-9. The rest of the numbers are formed using these 10 digits and power of 10.
Hundreds | Tens | Units |
{10^{2}} | {10^{1}} | {10^{0}} |
2 | 5 | 0 |
To write a number in words we have to consider their place value.
For 250,
‘0’ is in the unit place
‘5’ is in the tens place
‘2’ is in the hundreds place
So, we can write the number as
250 = 200 + 50 + 0
In words it becomes two hundred and fifty.
An even number is divisible by 2 and gives remainder 0 on division. For an odd number, on division by 2, we get the remainder 1. When we divide 250 by 2 we get 0. Hence, it is an even number.
A prime number is a number that has only two factors ‘1’ and the number itself. 250 has more than two factors like 5 and 10. Hence, 250 is not a prime number.
A number used to denote place is called as an ordinal number. For example 1st, 2nd, etc. In the same way, 250 denotes the 250th place.
A number used for counting is called a cardinal number. The number 250 can be used for counting and denotes 250 of the quantity. So, 250 is a cardinal number.
To find the prime factors, we divide the number with the smallest prime number possible and continue the process till we get all prime factors.
250 = 2 x 5 x 5 x 5
These are the prime factors of 250.
A perfect square on taking a square root gives a whole number. But 250 on taking square root gives the value 15.81. Hence, it is not a perfect square.
A perfect cube on taking cube root gives a whole number. The number 250 on taking a cube root gives a value of 6.29. Hence, it is not a perfect cube.
Any number having '0’ at unit place is divisible by 10. Hence, 250 is divisible by 10.
250 can be written as addition of many pairs of numbers. One of them is as follows:
250 = 100 + 150
To get the successive even number, we need to add two in the given number. So, the even number after 250 will be 252.
