A CBSE 9th science lab manual (or laboratory manual) is a booklet or textbook that gives detailed instructions for doing experiments in a laboratory setting. The CBSE Class 9 Science Lab manual helps students understand how to connect theory with practical applications. They also teach students proper laboratory etiquette, safety protocols, and procedural standards. NCERT maintains laboratory manuals for Science and other subjects across classes I through XII. Syringe (2mL), water and beaker
Take a clean syringe and pull the piston outward [Fig. 9.1.1 (a) i].
Block the nozzle of the syringe with your thumb [Fig. 9.1.1 (a) ii] and push the piston inward. Release the piston and record its position.
Push the piston inward again and release it. Does it come back to its original position? [Fig.9.1.1 (a) iii]
Repeat the above experiment by filling the syringe with water and note the observations [Fig.9.1.1 (b)].

Camphor / naphthalene / iodine, tripod, China dish, funnel, cotton, kerosene burner and spatula
Take a spatula full of crushed camphor / naphthalene / iodine in a clean and dry China dish and place it on the tripod.

2. Take a funnel and plug its nozzle with of cotton.
3. Invert this funnel on the China dish.
4. Light the kerosene burner and place it under tripod.
5. Heat the China dish for a few minutes and observe what happens.
6. Has a camphor / naphthalene / iodine change into the liquid state?
1. On the inner wall of the funnel, solid deposit of camphor/ naphthalene/iodine was observed.
2. Solid camphor / naphthalene / iodine on heating changed from solid state directly to vapour state. This process is known as sublimation.

This component is designed to measure consistent academic progress throughout the year. It includes:
Periodic Tests (5 marks): School will conduct three periodic tests. The average best two scores from these tests will be used to calculate a weightage of 5 marks toward final CBSE result.
Diverse Assessment Methods (5 marks): Teachers will use various methods beyond traditional tests to test students understanding. These may include short quizzes, oral tests, group projects, posters, presentations, and inquiry-based scientific investigations. They will contribute 5 marks to final score.
This part focuses the practical and laboratory work that students. This component is worth 5 marks.
It is a collection of work, including classwork and other student work samples. This may include the practical file, class notebook or other assignments provided by the teachers.
