Every year, lakhs of students appear in the CBSE Class 10 board examination, and every year, students have the same question: ‘Will the 10th board exam be easier?’ It is not simple to answer this question with just a ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ because the difficulty level of the paper is not predictable. This year, the CBSE Class 10 exam 2026 is going to be conducted in two phases. Phase 1 was scheduled from February 17 to March 10, 2026, which is mandatory for all the students, and phase 2 is an improvement examination scheduled from May 15 to June 1, 2026.

The board exam, being conducted in two phases, is a big relief for the students, as it gives them another chance to appear and improve their marks. The difficulty level of the paper depends on the types of questions asked in the examination, the preparation of the students, and, to some extent, it also depends on the examiner. It is not possible to conclude if the paper will be easy or not; however, CBSE will ensure that the papers are student-friendly and are favourable to all.
Here, we have shared the previous year exam analysis for the CBSE 10th examination for each subject. This will help the students to understand what type of questions were asked last year, the difficulty level, and the performance of the students.
The difficulty level of the Science paper was moderate. Some of the questions were based on metallurgy concepts, posture and balance of the body, and formation of magnesium chloride. The Section D and E were difficult based on the response of the students who appeared in the examination.
The social science paper was a mix of moderate and difficult questions. Sections A and B were easy to moderate, and Sections C, D, and E were between moderate and difficult. Overall, the paper was doable, and the students were satisfied with their performance.
The Hindi A and Hindi B papers were moderately difficult. The question paper was a good balance of objective and descriptive questions. The grammar section was easier, and the reading comprehension was direct, where students were able to answer easily.
The overall difficulty level of the Mathematics basic paper was easy to moderate. Sections A and B were directly from NCERT and were short questions only. Sections D and E had lengthy questions from circles, a pair of linear equations, surface area and volumes, coordinate geometry, and statistics. The standard paper was moderate to difficult, and some of the challenging questions were from trigonometry, arithmetic progression, surface area and volumes.
The students appearing in the 10th board exam must be aware of the latest changes made by CBSE for the academic year 2025-26 2025-26. As mentioned above, the CBSE Board 10th exam will be conducted in two phases. Students will have to mandatorily appear in the first examination. For the second phase, which is the improvement exam, students can choose up to three subjects. The CBSE exam rule changes have lowered the pressure and anxiety of the students, as they now have a second chance to appear in the examination.
It is not easy to determine whether the board paper for CBSE Class 10 will be easier or not; however, the students can prepare themselves for all possible scenarios. The paper can be difficult for some, and some students might feel the paper was easy. The difficulty level of the paper completely depends on the level of preparation of the students. If the students have confidence in their preparation, they might not feel pressured about the difficulty level.
