Go through the lab manual well in advance to understand each activity’s aim and procedure.
Practice diagrams and constructions neatly in the lab record book.
Review the observations and results after every activity.
Focus on projects that combine creativity with mathematical understanding, such as budgeting, statistical surveys, or area mapping.
The activities in the Maths Class 9 lab manual CBSE encourage creativity and practical application of concepts in students. A few examples include:
Verifying the formula for the area of a triangle using paper cutting and pasting.
Demonstrating the mid-point theorem through a hands-on activity.
Constructing a frequency distribution table from real-life data.
Exploring the properties of parallelograms using geometry tools.
Experimenting with the surface area and volume of a sphere and a cone.
Projects based on real-life applications of statistics and probability.
In the article above, we have provided free PDF download links to CBSE 9th Maths lab manual activities and projects. An example of practical work is given below for students’ reference on what they will find in those links:
To verify that the triangles on the same base and between the same parallels are equal in area.
A piece of plywood, graph paper, a pair of wooden strips, a colour box, scissors, a cutter, adhesive, and a geometry box.
Step 1: Cut a rectangular plywood of a convenient size.
Step 2: Paste a graph paper on it.
Step 3: Fix any two horizontal wooden strips on it which are parallel to each other.
Step 4: Fix two points, A and B, on the paper along the first strip (base strip).
Step 5: Fix a pin at a point, say at C, on the second strip.
Step 6: Join C to A and B
Step 7: Take any other two points on the second strip, say C′ and C
Step 8: Join C′A, C′B, C′′A and C′′B to form two more triangles.
This result helps in solving various geometric problems. It also helps in finding the formula for the area of a triangle.
