CBSE Board On-Screen Marking System (OSM)

The Central Board of Secondary Education proposed a new scheme of “On-screen Marking” of question papers which helps examiners to cut short their time spent during the evaluation process of CBSE 10th answer books. The board proposes to implement the OSM system in the 2026 examination in a few subjects to avoid administrative difficulties. The CBSE on-screen marking system will be tested in the following -

  • CBSE 10th Science examination

  • Supplementary examination
  • Revaluation

Was the CBSE On-Screen Marking System Implemented Before?

The CBSE board had earlier implemented the OSM system for certain subjects in the 2013-14 examination. The board had taken help from private agencies like TCS to get digitised answer books to the evaluation centres and evaluators. The CSBE further stated that the on-screen evaluation system was satisfactory in regions like Panchkula, whereas, the OSM was difficult in regions like Patna, Prayagraj, and Ajmer.
