The Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh (BSEAP) has implemented the Andhra Pradesh Secondary School Certificate (AP SSC) grading system. The AP SSC grading system is established to evaluate students' performance through a grade-based system ranging from A1 (highest) to E (a failing grade). In addition to grades, students receive grade points, which are used to calculate their Grade Point Average (GPA). To pass, students must secure a minimum of 35 marks out of 100 in each subject as an AP SSC passing mark, with a slight variation for the second language, Hindi. In Hindi (Second Language), students scoring below 20% will be declared 'fail'.

This system aims to provide a comprehensive assessment of student performance while reducing the stress associated with AP SSC examinations. There are minor differences in the grading criteria for the second language and Hindi, compared to other subjects. If students fail the AP SSC Result, they will have to appear for the compartment exam.

AP SSC Subject Marks and Grading System 2026

Students earn grade points based on the marks they score in the AP SSC examination. The AP SSC grading system is a 9-point grade system, where 90-100 provides an A1 grade and 10 grade points. To pass the AP SSC exams, students must score a minimum of 35 marks in each subject. Their overall grade is calculated based on the average grade points of all subjects. If a student scores below 35 marks in any subject, they will receive an E Grade (Fail) and must appear for AP SSC supplementary exams. To calculate the overall grade point average (GPA), students sum the grade points for all subjects and divide by the total number of subjects.

For example, if a student receives grade points of 8, 9, 8, 8, 7, and 8, their GPA is 48/6 = 8, corresponding to a B1 grade. The AP SSC Grading System follows a 7-point grading scale based on the marks obtained by students

AP SSC: CGPA to Percentage and Marks Calculation

It's important to understand that CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) is a grade point average, not a direct representation of raw marks. Therefore, converting CGPA to precise marks can be an approximation. However, a common formula is used to get an approximate percentage, which can then be used to estimate marks. Check the process of converting CGPA to percentage:

The Common Formula:

  • The most widely used formula to convert CGPA to a percentage is:

    • Percentage = CGPA × 9.5

    • Let's say a student has a CGPA of 9.0.

    • Percentage = 9.0 × 9.5 = 85.5%

    • If the total possible marks were 600, then the estimated total marks would be 600 * .855 = 513.
