The Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh has introduced major changes to the AP Intermediate Exams 2026. Under the new pattern, first-year students will be given a 32-page answer booklet instead of the earlier 24-page version, in line with the revised syllabus and updated question format. Students must complete all answers within this booklet, as no extra sheets will be provided. Second-year students, however, will continue with the standard 24-page booklet.
The board has also merged Mathematics 1A and 1B into a single paper. Likewise, Botany and Zoology have been combined into one Biology paper, reducing the total number of exams students need to take.
To improve objective assessment, one-mark questions have been introduced in subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology. Additionally, the syllabus has been aligned with NCERT guidelines to help students prepare more effectively for national-level entrance exams.
The passing criteria and evaluation framework have also been revised, while internal assessments and practical exams will continue alongside theory papers to ensure comprehensive evaluation.
