The Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh (BIEAP) conducts the AP inter exam for the 1st and 2nd years. The AP inter exam pattern includes the marking scheme, type of questions and number of questions asked in the examination. The AP inter exam carries 100 marks in total, except for subjects with practicals. Subjects like Botany, Zoology, Chemistry and Physics are divided into two parts: theory and practicals. Some theory papers carry 70 marks, and some carry 80 marks, while the remaining marks are carried by practicals/internal assessments. Read the entire AP intermediate exam pattern below.
Students must read the entire AP inter syllabus to help them understand the type of questions that will be asked in the examination. The latest AP Inter exam pattern 2026-27 has been released on the official website. Students can check the latest marking scheme for different subjects provided here to prepare effectively for the examination.
As per the year 2026-27, the AP Inter exam paper for Mathematics will carry 100 marks in total. There will be no internal assessment for the Mathematics paper.
The paper will be divided into four sections, A, B, C and D.
There will be very short-answer type, short-answer type and long-answer type questions included in the AP intermediate question paper.
Internal choice questions will be provided within the sections.

The AP intermediate Biology question paper is divided into two parts: Part A, i.e., Botany, and Part B, i.e., Zoology, which are conducted in a single examination. The Biology theory paper will consist of 85 marks in total, out of which Botany contains 42 marks, and Zoology consists of 43 marks. The examination will last 3 hours. Both parts have separate sections with different question types, including objective, very short, short and long-answer questions. Students need to attempt both sections to qualify for the paper.
AP Inter Botany Exam Pattern 2026-27
The AP Intermediate Part A Botany paper will be divided into four sections, A, B, C and D.
Section A will consist of very short answer-type questions that will carry 1 mark each.
Each question in Section B will carry 2 marks. It will consist of short answer questions.
Section C questions will be long answer-type questions and will carry 4 marks each.
Section D will consist of descriptive-type questions. Students need to answer 1 out of 2 questions from this section.
Diagram questions will be included in the AP Inter Botany paper. Students must draw the diagrams neatly and label them accordingly.

AP Inter Zoology Exam Pattern 2026-27
The AP Intermediate Part B Zoology paper will be divided into four sections, A, B, C and D.
Section A will carry 1-mark questions. It will include very short answer-type questions.
Section B will consist of short answer-type questions that will carry 2 marks.
Section C consists of long answer-type questions. Each question will carry 4 marks.
Section D will consist of descriptive-type questions. Students need to answer 1 out of 2 questions from this section.
Students must draw the diagrams neatly and label them.

The AP Inter Chemistry theory paper will carry 85 marks in total. There will be a total of 38 questions in the paper, out of which 33 need to be answered. The AP Inter Chemistry paper will consist of four sections, A, B, C nd D.
Section A: There will be 9 questions carrying 1 mark each.
Section B: There will be 14 questions of short answer type. Each question will carry 2 marks.
Section C: There will be 8 questions that will carry 4 marks.
Section D: There will be 2 questions carrying 8 marks.
Internal choice questions will be included in the question paper.
Sections B and C will also include diagram questions. Students must draw labelled diagrams wherever required.

The AP Intermediate Physics exam will be conducted for three hours. The paper will be divided into two parts, theory and practicals/internal assessment. The Physics theory paper will carry 85 marks. There will be a total of 37 questions carrying 100 marks in the AP Inter Economics paper. Students must answer all the questions carefully and draw suitable diagrams wherever required. The AP Inter Economics paper will be divided into four sections, A, B, C and D.
Section A contains short-type questions carrying 1 mark each.
Section B questions must be answered in two or three sentences.
Section C and Section D will have long-answer-type questions.
