National Standard Examination in Physics (NSEP), conducted by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers(IAPT) annually is a prestigious exam which recognises the pool of talents Physics enthusiasts across the nation.
The NSEP is a completely voluntary examination which opens a number of avenues to those who wish to pursue careers in Physics. The toppers of NSEP can attend the Indian National Physics Olympiad (INPhO) which is a step towards the International Physics Olympiad. One of the main benefits of NSEP is that the gold medalist of NSEP can directly join DAE through an interview without any entrance examination. Also a maximum of 10 scholarships are given for students who take BSc Physics as their career after clearing NSEP.
Here careers360 provides previous 6 year NSEP paper analysis with tips and references for NSEP preparation.
The NSEP syllabus is similar to the CBSE Class 11 and 12 syllabus. So students can follow the topics of NCERT Class 11 and 12 Physics book. Chapter wise weightage for Class 11 and 12 are separately given below. The analysis is done referring to past papers of the NSEP. Careers360 analysed six papers of NSEP. The third column shows the weightage and not the number of questions. In theprevious NSEP paper there were questions of three marks with single correct option and six marks with multiple correct answers. For the analysis purpose three marks questions are given a weightage of one and six marks questions a weightage of two.
