The International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) for Class 9 is organised by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF). It is designed to assess students' mathematical abilities through a structured syllabus and exam pattern. The IMO syllabus for Class 9 in 2025 is divided into four key sections: Logical Reasoning, Mathematical Reasoning, Everyday Mathematics, and the Achievers Section. The IMO Class 9 exam consists of 50 objective-type questions and is designed to align with the CBSE, ICSE/ISC, and various state board syllabi.
The SOF IMO exam will directly reflect any updates or content reductions made by NEP 2020, NCF 2023, and the syllabi guidelines of NCERT, CBSE, and other national and state education boards. The IMO exam consists of 50 questions and has a time limit of 1 hour.

For Level-I IMO Class 9 Olympiad exams, the questions will be split: 60% will cover the current class syllabus, and 40% will be from the previous class syllabus. For example, the Class 9 IMO exam will draw 60% of its questions from the Class 9 syllabus and 40% from the Class 8 syllabus.
Similarly, Level-II Olympiad exams and the Achievers Section will feature questions from the current class syllabus.
