The Aryabhata Ganit Challenge (AGC) 2025-26, organised by CBSE for students in Classes VIII to X, unfolds in two levels. Both levels follow a uniform pattern: a one-hour exam comprised entirely of multiple-choice questions (MCQs), with a total of 40 marks and no negative marking. The Aryabhata Ganit challenge assesses students across key areas of mathematics like Number Sense, Algebra, Mensuration, Geometry & Spatial Sense, Data Analysis & Probability, and Quantitative Aptitude while evaluating essential skills such as Conceptual Understanding, Logical Reasoning, Analytical Thinking, Problem-Solving, Strategic Approach, Visualisation & Mathematization, and Creative & Abstract Thinking.
The first Level 1 (school-level) is an offline, pen-and-paper test conducted by individual schools using a question paper provided through the CBSE portal. The top three performers from each school then advance to Level 2 (national-level), which is held online via a computer-based format.
Preparing for the Aryabhata Ganit Challenge requires a structured approach. The syllabus covers a broad range of topics, including number systems, algebra, geometry, and problem-solving. To prepare effectively, students should first familiarise themselves with the syllabus and then create a dedicated study schedule. The AGC exam assesses both mathematical content and competency skills, including
Content Areas | Competency Skills |
Number Sense & Number System | Conceptual Understanding |
Algebra | Logical Reasoning & Analytical Thinking |
Mensuration | Problem-Solving Skills |
Geometry & Spatial Sense | Strategic Approach |
Data Analysis & Probability | Visualisation & Mathematization |
Quantitative Aptitude | Creative & Abstract Thinking |
The Aryabhatta Ganit Challenge and CBSE syllabus for classes 8th to 10th are similar. Students can revise and read the topics from the notes given below
