The American Embassy School was started in New Delhi in 1952. In 1960, the School adopted the American International School (AIS) name. In 1963, the School moved to the campus in Chanakyapuri. In 1973, the School was renamed as the American Embassy School (AES).

American Embassy School admissions are provided to students based on priority category systems. For any query related to admission at AES school, parents can contact the admission office of the school. American Embassy School all through the year accepts applications for AES admissions. If parents are interested in enrolling their child at AES, they will have to fill the online application form through the official website.
Here are general steps to apply for American Embassy School admission:
First of all, go the official website: www.aes.ac.in
Click on the "Apply Now" option to complete the online application form.
Register as a new user and fill the application form with correct details.
Upload a scanned passport-size colour photo of 2 × 2 inches with a light background.
Choose a payment method and pay the application fees, then click "SUBMIT."
Each application cost covers consideration for two years.
The payment will place the applicant in the priority group for admissions.
Under each priority group, applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Scanned copies of the most current semester report and the last two years' worth of certified school report cards, if available.
Proposals from teachers in confidence. Put in the names and official email addresses of your child's teachers (private email addresses are not acceptable). The instructor will get a private referral request via an online form that will be emailed directly to them.
For middle and high school applicants: 3 confidential recommendations.
Scanned photocopies of the information and photo pages of the passports of parents/guardians and applicants.
For Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 5 applicants: scanned one-page drawing or writing piece done recently by your child.
For middle school and high school applicants: Download the Student Questionnaire and ask your child to complete the form, scan it, and submit it online.

History of academic growth
The student’s academic, social, and emotional growth can be met by AES.
The student’s further development of English-language skills can be met by AES.
Eligible to graduate before their twentieth birthday.
Resides in Delhi (NCR) with a parent or legal guardian.
The student and parent/s or legal guardian support the mission and vision of AES and will both enhance and benefit from the AES learning experience.

The age-cut off date at the American Embassy School, New Delhi is August 31.
Pre-Kindergarten 3: 4 years old on or before August 31 of the year of attendance.
Pre-Kindergarten 4: 4 years old on or before August 31 of the year of attendance.
Kindergarten: 5 years old on or before August 31 of the year of attendance.

The Elementary School sponsors iPOP (individual Power of Passion), the Middle School has ASAs, and the High School offers a range of teams, fine and performing art organisations, and clubs as after-school activities.
Although it is always a choice, many of the elementary and middle school kids choose to participate in the lunch programme.
