What is the average retarding force on the vehicle? The mass of the three-wheeler is 400 kg, and the mass of the driver is 65 kg.

Total mass of the system = 400 + 65 = 425 kg

Using the first law of motion, we get

Since the car comes to rest, the final velocity will be zero.

Q4.9 A rocket with a lift-off mass of 20,000 kg is blasted upwards with an initial acceleration of $5.0 ms^{-2}$. Calculate the initial thrust (force) of the blast.

Answer:

Let the initial thrust be F Newton.

Using Newton's second law of motion, we get

or $F\ =\ ma\ +\ mg$

Q4.17 Anucleus is at rest in the laboratory frame of reference. Show that if it disintegrates into two smaller nuclei, the products must move in opposite directions.

Let the mass of parent nuclei be m.

And the mass of daughter nuclei is m1 and m2.
