The Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) announced the Class 10, 12 improvement examination dates. The CBSE Class 10 improvement exams are being conducted from July 15 to 22, 2024. Whereas for the Class 12, the exam was held on July 15, 2024. The board allows students to apply for CBSE improvement exam on the official website, cbse.nic.in. CBSE board conducts Improvement exams for students who are not satisfied with their scores in the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations. These exams provide students with a chance to improve their grades in specific subjects.

Earlier, students had to wait a full year before they were eligible to take the improvement examination. They were not permitted to take the CBSE 10th and CBSE 12th exams in the same year it was conducted. However, Under the new guidelines, students in classes 10 and 12 who have passed their respective examinations can now apply for CBSE improvement exams within the same academic year. How to Apply for the CBSE Improvement Exam?

To apply for the CBSE improvement exam, the student should visit the provided link and follow these steps:

  • Visit the official website of the Central Board of Secondary Education, cbse.nic.in, or www.cbseonline.ernet.in/pvtform/.

  • On the home page, click on the option, "Apply Online for Improvement Exam".

  • Enter the roll number and school name when prompted.

  • Select the subject for which the candidate wants to take the Improvement Exam.

  • Choose an examination centre from the available options.

  • Fill in all the required information accurately.

  • Double-check all the details have been filled in.

  • Click on the submit button.

The CBSE Improvement Examination application forms can be filled out on the website CBSE.nic.in. To complete the form, students will need to provide the following information:

CBSE Improvement Exam 2024 Eligibility Criteria

It is recommended that students carefully review the eligibility criteria outlined by the CBSE Board before submitting their application for the Improvement Exam. Failure to meet the eligibility requirements will result in the cancellation of the exam form.

  • To be eligible for the CBSE Improvement Exam, candidates must have successfully passed the CBSE Class 10 Exam and CBSE Class 12 exam. Candidates who did not qualify for the previous Board Exam can explore the CBSE Compartment exam.

  • The CBSE Improvement exam is specifically designed for candidates who wish to improve their scores from the previous Board exam. It is important to note that candidates must have studied under the CBSE Board to be eligible.

  • Candidates who have received a compartment in any subject will not be eligible to appear for the Improvement Exam. Additionally, it is not possible to choose any additional subjects for the exam; only the subjects in which the candidate had previously appeared can be selected.

  • Lastly, the Improvement Exam can only be taken for the five main subjects.

CBSE Improvement Exam - Points to Remember

Students should keep in mind the following guidelines while completing the application form for the CBSE improvement exam.

  • After entering your Roll No. and the name of the school, the candidate will have the option to select the subjects for the re-exam.

  • The application fee is Rs 300 per subject, which can be paid online on the website or at the bank using a challan.

  • Candidates mustn't wait until the last date to fill out the application form, as there may be high traffic on the websites during the final hours, potentially causing them to miss the deadline.

  • Also, note that the fee amounts may vary depending on the Delhi Scheme, candidates outside of India, and private candidates. Before applying for the improvement exam, it is advisable to review the official notification by CBSE.

  • Once the candidate has successfully applied, they will receive a separate CBSE admit card for the improvement exam. Make sure to download it from the CBSE website and carefully review the exam centre details provided.

CBSE Improvement Examination Guidelines

The CBSE improvement examination offers candidates the opportunity to re-appear in one or more subjects in the following year's board examination. Students who have successfully cleared the previous year's board examination are also eligible to apply for the CBSE improvement examination.

  • When registering for the improvement examination, the personal details of students who appeared in last year's board examination will be automatically generated. However, students who appeared two years ago will need to fill in their details while applying for the improvement examination.

  • It is important to note that students who did not pass the previous year's board examination are not eligible to apply for the improvement examination. They will either need to appear as private students the following year or they can opt to appear for the compartment examination.

  • If a student does not perform well in the improvement examination, their best performance in both exams will be taken into consideration.

  • Students can follow CBSE Syllabus 2024 to improve marks in their 10th and 12th board exams.

CBSE Improvement Exam – New Education Policy Guidelines

Some highlights of the new education policy on CBSE improvement exams.

  • In the compartment examination, which takes place right after the main examination, students in Classes 10 and 12 will have the chance to enhance their performance in just one subject.

  • Only the higher of the two marks obtained in that subject will be taken into account for the final results. Those students who manage to improve their performance will receive a consolidated mark sheet.

CBSE Improvement Exam Result and Marksheet

The announcement of the CBSE Improvement Exam results is scheduled for August 2024, following the completion of the test. Students who opt for the improvement test will be issued a new mark sheet.
