The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) started conducting the Class 10 and 12 board exams on February 15, 2025. This year, the board has made several new changes to the answer sheet. The board will use an OMR answer sheet during the CBSE board examination. It is the responsibility of the school authorities to download and keep the OMRs safe. The questions will be MCQ-based. Students can only use blue/black ballpoint pens to fill out the answers in the CBSE OMR Sheet. Read the entire article to learn more about the new changes in the CBSE OMR answer sheet 2025.
The latest OMR sheet is yet to be available, but students can refer to the previous OMR sheets through the links given below:
As per the CBSE board, we have provided the list of new changes in the CBSE OMR answer sheet 2025 below:
Bar Code on Each Answer Sheet: There will be a bar code on each of the CBSE answer sheets for tracking and verifying the answer sheets.
Fluid/Whitener Not Allowed: Students are not allowed to use a pencil to fill the CBSE answer sheet. Hence, they have to be careful while answering the questions. To fill out the answer in the OMR answer sheet, they can only use blue/black ballpoint pens. They must answer the questions only when they are confident because fluid/whiteners are prohibited.
Overwriting Not Allowed: Answers must be filled correctly and no overwriting is allowed, as it creates confusion for the examiner while checking the answer sheet.
Write Name in Capital Letters: Students must fill out the details including the student’s name, father’s name, school code and name, subject name, subject code, and question paper code in the required field correctly in capital letters.
No Calculator Allowed: To ensure fairness in the examination, the board does not allow students to use any electronic devices including mobile phones and calculators in the CBSE exam.
CBSE CCTV Policy: To promote a smooth examination process and avoid unnecessary circumstances, the board has released the CBSE CCTV policy. It allows students to concentrate on the examination and gives them equal opportunity to perform without getting distracted.
Write question number in the margin of the answer book: Students are not allowed to write or mark anything on the question paper. There will be two margins in the answer book, one on the left side and another on the right side. Students can use the left side margin to write the question number in the answer book.
Separate Space for Rough Work: Students are not allowed to bring rough paper to the CBSE examination hall. There will be two margins in the answer book. Students can use the right side margin as rough space to solve mathematical problems or any other type of rough work. However, once the student is done with the rough work, they must cross it out to avoid any kind of confusion.
Number of pages in answer book: As per the new guidelines, there will be 32 pages in answer book for subjects that carry more than 50 marks in theory paper, 20 pages for subjects with 50 marks or less, 40 pages with graphs for Mathematics paper, drawing sheet for Engineering Graphics and any subject with drawings and 8 pages for supplementary answer books.
Avoid usage of colours: Students are not allowed to use any colour in the CBSE answer book.
Note: As per the new answer book guidelines, if a student writes the answer anywhere else other than the given space, then the marks will not be evaluated.

Hello Pruthvi,
Taking a drop year to reappear for the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) is a well-defined process. As a repeater, you are fully eligible to take the exam again to improve your score and secure a better rank for admissions.
The main procedure involves submitting a new application for the KCET through the official Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) website when registrations open for the next academic session. You must pay the required application fee and complete all formalities just like any other candidate. A significant advantage for you is that you do not need to retake your 12th board exams. Your previously secured board marks in the qualifying subjects will be used again. Your new KCET rank will be calculated by combining these existing board marks with your new score from the KCET exam. Therefore, your entire focus during this year should be on preparing thoroughly for the KCET to achieve a higher score.

Yes, you can switch from Science in Karnataka State Board to Commerce in CBSE for 12th. You will need a Transfer Certificate from your current school and meet the CBSE school’s admission requirements. Since you haven’t studied Commerce subjects like Accountancy, Economics, and Business Studies, you may need to catch up before or during 12th. Not all CBSE schools accept direct admission to 12th from another board, so some may ask you to join Class 11 first. Make sure to check the school’s rules and plan your subject preparation.
