The terms "jampala" and "dashami," which mean "victory" and "tenth," respectively, make up the term ‘Vijayadashami’. According to James Lochtefeld, the Sanskrit terms "dasham" and "ahar," which translate to "10" and "day," respectively, are included in the phrase Dashahara, which is a form of the word "Dussehra."
