Dussehra celebrations in India represent the victory of good over evil.

The celebration is a representation of the Rama and Ravana mythology. Sita, the revered Indian princess, was taken hostage by the demon king Ravana. Lord Rama successfully defeated the strong and wicked King Ravana by saving his wife. The 10-day Dussehra festival comes to an end on the Dussehra holiday, which falls on the tenth day. Large sculptures of Ravana are erected and placed in open areas on the day of Dussehra. In order to let people follow the path of virtue and goodwill all year long, these effigies are burned along with the evil they stand for.
