The examination conducted by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), has two stages. The Stage1 is a State level test and is conducted by the State / Union Territory, whereas Stage 2 is a national level test conducted by NCERT. Both, Stage 1 and 2 consists of Part 1 and 2 in each paper namely MAT and SAT. Stage 1 has no negative marking while 1/3rd marks are deducted for every wrong attempt in Stage 2 test paper. Similarly, the sample paper of NTSE also has 2 parts and is an objective type question paper just like the real exam.
