The first exam is to be conducted in February and the second one in May, which will be an opportunity for the students to improve their marks. Both exams are open to every student, and the best score shall be counted. This has been brought in to reduce the pressure on students and give them another chance to perform well.

As of now, there is no release of the new sample papers by the CBSE for the 2025-26 exams. But students may use the past sample papers to start their preparations. They are in accordance with the present CBSE syllabus and cover all kinds of important questions, which include MCQs, case-based, and competency-based questions. In this article, you will find sample papers on all the subjects, marking schemes, and handy preparation tips for the CBSE Class 10 board examinations of 2026.
The CBSE introduced a new examination pattern for 10th Standard students, which will be applicable from the academic session 2025-26. It has now created a system where students get two chances to appear for the board examination in one year. A preliminary examination shall be held in February 2026, and the second exam (optional) is to be held in May of the same year.

By choice, the students can appear for either of the two exams or go for both examinations; in the latter case, the candidate who scored best in each subject would be the highest scoring option. Thus, the option is offered to reduce stress and allow improvement if needed. The full syllabus shall be followed for both exams, while the paper pattern is to remain unchanged. For this reason, serious preparation is required for February, with May serving as a second chance.
The system under consideration proposes greater flexibility and confidence to students in the way they attempt to do their best without the fear that one single examination will weigh completely against them.
CBSE hasn't released the sample papers for 2025-26 till now, just as it has not done so for earlier sessions. Sample papers are uploaded on the CBSE Academic site a few months before the exam. The sample paper will download from the website when they release soon after they becomes available.
Until then, students can practice with sample papers issued earlier from the previous year (2024-25 session). These papers are the latest for the syllabus and exam pattern and are useful for understanding the types of questions asked, the marking scheme, and the accuracy of time management.
In the given tables, we have provided PDF links to CBSE Previous Year Sample Papers Class 10. Sample papers are an effective method of preparing for the CBSE Class 10 board exam. The following points provide insight into why it is important:
1. Know the Exam Pattern: Sample papers follow the same structure as the real exam. They provide insights into types of questions, marking scheme, and question weightage.
2. Time Management: Working on full papers gives you the ability to complete the paper on time. You will know how long to spend on each question.
3. Recognition of Weak Areas: By solving a paper, you will know what topics you are strong in and what areas need more revision.
4. Increased Confidence: The more papers you solve, the more confident you will feel. With paper styles introduced, the real exam will seem less stressful and will boost confidence.
5. Reduced Mistakes: Regular practice helps reduce several minor mistakes, mainly mistakes in calculations, grammar, writing format, etc.
CBSE Sample Papers are sample papers based on the recent exam pattern released by CBSE or any other publisher. The practice papers are supplementary sets of questions that are made for specific and regular revision and may not always correspond to the latest CBSE format. Previous years' papers are real board exam papers from the years gone by and help you understand the actual exam difficulty.
Use practice papers to remodel your concepts, sample papers to get familiar with the pattern, and previous papers to test your final exam preparation. Each type plays a different part in your preparation that, if used wisely, makes a big score in the CBSE 10th result.
