The specific distribution of marks within the theory portion may differ across subjects.
The TN Board exams for class 12 is expected to be conducted in March 2026.
The passing marks for Tamil Nadu 12th board exams are 35 out of 100 for theory subjects. For subjects with practical components, students must obtain at least 15 marks in the theory exam, and the total score (including theory, practical, and internal assessment) should be 35. For languages and subjects without practicals, the passing mark is 25 out of 90
The "Best of Five" rule in the TN 12th exam refers to the calculation of the final percentage. Even if students take more than five subjects, only the top five scores are considered for the final percentage calculation. This means that the lowest-scoring subject(s) are excluded from the calculation, ensuring that only the best five performances are reflected in the final result.
