TN +2 Quarterly Chemistry Exam Analysis 2025-26

  • The paper contains physical, inorganic, and organic chemistry, and it has solid-state, chemical kinetics, and practical papers that very fairly map the questions.
  • Some very easy recall questions (e.g., definition, example) on both ends of the learning spectrum; application-style questions (density calculation, reaction mechanisms) are certainly a little bit above average and for high-performing students.
  • Some terms have a misspelling (e.g., "Phictogen", "Nolice's reaction", "ethyl borate less") which could confuse students. Some have ambiguous or incomplete questions (e.g., Q.in 38b, which has a match mismatch molecular formula) and will obviously have confused students.
  • Mostly organic transformations, specific reactions to reagents, and mechanistic reasoning are assessed for thorough conceptual understanding.
  • Part I to IV with all mark allocations; this should guide students on where to focus their energies; answering some long-answer questions, however, leads into a barrage of sub-questions.

TN +2 Quarterly Chemistry Exam 2025 Preparation Tips

  1. All books suggested by the school must be thoroughly revised. Concentrate on all examples, exercises, and in-text questions given by the school. Do not skip conceptual explanations.

  2. Avoid common mistakes while solving questions. Check calculations, chemical equations, signs, and step-wise solutions again to prevent careless errors.

  3. Daily practice for chapters/topics perceived to be difficult for you. Spend extra time studying those concepts and solving extra questions based on them.

  4. Concentration on diagrams and their labelling. Proper labelling of molecules, graphs, reaction mechanisms, primary cell apparatus, etc., can yield extra marks.

  5. Use mnemonics and shortcuts. Use simple memory aids to remember long reaction sequences, formulas, or periodic table trends.

  6. While studying, give priority to chapters with high-weightage, i.e, assign more study hours for them. Identify chapters/topics with high chances of being asked in the past papers and keep practising them.

  7. Solve previous years' papers, including those of quartiles, half-yearly, as well as sample papers, and understand trends of repeated questions being asked.

  8. Always have very concise notes for any chapter for revision. Notes should include important formulas, reactions, equations, and key concepts meant for last-minute quick revision.

  9. Make a habit of solving questions from sample papers or exercises under time limits. This will help students to improve, build speed, accuracy, and confidence in examinations.

  10. Sometimes, we have group study for more clarification. Discuss difficult topics with friends or teachers for clarification of doubts and new angles of solving questions.
