The National Scholarship Portal (NSP) provides students with a One-time registration (OTR) number. It is a unique number allotted to the students to help them create a profile on the NSP portal. To create an account, students will have to fill in their personal details, academic information, and bank account details and upload the required documents just once. How to Apply for NSP OTR Number?

Students applying for the scholarship will need a one-time registration (OTR) number to log in to their account. Below, we have provided a step-by-step guide for applying NSP OTR:

  • Visit the official website, scholarships.gov.in.
  • Click on the "Students" button.
  • After that, go to "OTR" and click on "Register".
  • Read the OTR guidelines for the scholarship and click "I agree to the following" and the next button.
  • Next, register the mobile number, get OTP, and enter it in the required field for verification.
  • The next step is eKYC, students will get three opinions to choose from: I have Aadhaar, Aadhaar not assigned (I have EID) and Parent/ Legal Guardian Aadhaar card. Students can enter their Aadhaar card number, click on get OTP, and verify it.
  • To complete the registration process, provide the details required in the "Finish" section, such as mother's name, father's name and email ID.
  • The OTR will be generated. Students must note down their OTR number for future reference.

Documents Required for OTR

To complete the one-time registration, students will have to submit the required documents to the portal. Below, we have provided a list of documents that students will need to complete their NSP registration.

  • Aadhaar card or ID proof for identity verification
  • Academic records (marksheet from the previous academic year)

Can I Renew my NSP Scholarship?

Yes, students who have applied on the National Scholarship Portal in the previous academic year can renew their scholarship using their OTR. The OTR will be allotted through the portal and intimated through SMS on their registered number. Students who have received their OTR number can directly apply for the scholarship on the NSP portal without wasting any time. However, in case a student does not receive the OTR number through SMS, they can retrieve it by clicking on “Know Your OTR” on the NSP portal.
