How To Study English: Read Daily

Want to learn English quickly and easily? Make daily reading a habit. Spend at least 20 minutes each day reading, whether it’s books, news articles, blogs, poetry, or any other material. The more variety in what you read, the better. Regular reading not only improves your comprehension but also strengthens your writing skills. You’ll be surprised at how quickly your vocabulary grows, your reading fluency improves, and your writing becomes more polished—all from reading just a little bit every day.

How To Study English: Classes 6 and 7

Start by reading your textbooks carefully, especially when preparing for the literature section in exams. Many questions are based on reference to context and character sketches, so it’s important to read each chapter at least once and answer the questions at the end. Engage in critical thinking—ask yourself why certain events happened, why a character said something, and what the deeper meaning might be. Participate actively in classroom discussions and share ideas with your peers. To avoid last-minute stress, aim to complete the NCERT syllabus 2025 on time.

When it comes to grammar, focus on applying it in both writing and speaking. Fluency is key, and to develop fluency, you need regular communication practice. Answer grammar exercises, expose yourself to the language through various media, watch English TV programs, and converse in English as much as possible.

How To Study English: Class 8

Read at least one paragraph every day to prepare for the reading section. Regularly practise writing essays, letters, and articles. Make it a habit to speak in English during class. Repeat new things you learn to help remember them better—but avoid rote memorisation. An interest in literature often leads to a deeper interest in the language itself. You can also read additional works by the same author or within the same genre to better understand the context and make meaningful references in your answers.

For grammar, practice using newspapers, magazines, and novels. Underline the parts of speech you have learned—verbs, adverbs, nouns, and so on. Take any paragraph and identify these elements. Exposing yourself to a variety of reading materials will also help you understand different writing styles.

How To Study English: Class 9 and 10

To excel, you need to thoroughly master the text. Use skimming and scanning techniques—read the passage first, then scan it to locate answers to the questions. Study poems in detail to excel in reference to context questions. Learn all the difficult words and write them down to help remember them. Always keep track of every character in a story and remember the names of the poets. For poems, note the who, when, and why—understand what the poet is trying to convey and the historical or cultural backdrop of the poem.

Strengthen Your Grammar

For grammar, know how to transform words—for example, changing a verb to a noun or a verb to an adjective. Practice daily and ensure your basics are strong.
