For those who aim to achieve both academic excellence and success in sports, they get equal opportunity to grow, as the board ensures that neither area of their development is neglected. Specifically, students of CBSE 10th, 12th who participate in the national/international sports events and international olympiads get the facility of separate examination, which allows them to continue their academic journey without compromising on sports.

The CBSE board has taken various measures to ensure that the students who aim for excellence in academics and sports are given equal opportunities to grow in both fields.
Since March 2018, the CBSE board has offered the facility to conduct special examinations at a later date for students who are participating in the national/international sports events.
Since March 2020, the students who are participating in International Olympiads and whose CBSE board examination dates clash with their international olympiad dates (including the journey for the Olympiad) can give the board examination later under special examination.
From the academic year 2026, the board will conduct the CBSE class 10th exam twice a year. The first phase will be held from February 17 to March 10, 2026, while the second phase will be conducted from May 15 to June 1, 2026. The board will conduct the special examination for sports students in the month of May, along with the phase 2 examination.
Students appearing in the exam must fill out the LOC for the main examination.
Sports students will be able to appear in the CBSE 2nd examination for the subjects whose exam dates have coincided with their sports event or with the journey only.
No separate sports examination will be conducted by the board after the first or second board examinations.
In case a sports student failed in one or two subjects and must take a compartment examination, will have to apply for the compartment examination next year in February/March.
The students must obtain permission from the CBSE for exemption from the first examination as per policy.
