Students must score at least 33 out of 100 in each subject to pass the Tripuran Board exams. For subjects with both TBSE theory and practical subjects, students must achieve a passing marks in each parts individually. Beyond individual subject scores, students must also achieve a minimum overall aggregate score, calculated from the combined marks of all subjects. A candidate must achieve a minimum total score of 165 out of 500 (equivalent to 33% in each of the five subjects) to pass the Tripura Board exams.

The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) exams do not have negative marking. Theory exams are usually worth 80 or 100 marks. Some subjects incorporate practical assessments, with varying weightage. For example, some subjects might have a 20-mark practical subjects and an 80-mark theory component, while others may have a 10-mark practical and a 90-mark theory split. Subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Geography, and Psychology commonly follow a 70-mark theory and 30-mark practical subject.

The Tripura Madhyamik passing marks 2025 requires a passing grade of 33% in each subject. This means a student must get at least 33 out of 100 marks in each subject, combining both internal assessment and written exam scores. Tripura HS Passing Criteria 2025

Students must achieve a minimum of 33% in each subject and 33% overall to pass the TBSE Class 12th exams. This translates to a minimum score of 165 out of 500. A passing grade is a D, equivalent to 2 grade points. Students are encouraged to actively participate in class, complete assignments, and perform well in all assessments, including periodic tests and examinations. Those who fail a subject must retake the Tripura Class 12th exam 2025 or a compartment exam to achieve a passing score.

Tripura Board Internal Marks Division

Schools affiliated with the Tripura Board conduct internal assessments worth 20 marks. This assessment is based on the following criteria:

Madhyamik Exam Passing Criteria & "Bachhar Bachao" Details

Candidates appearing for the Tripura madhyamik exam are eligible for the "Bachhar Bachao" (Save a Year) Examination if they achieve an aggregate score of at least 150 out of 500 but fail no more than two subjects. This exam is held within 60 days of the publication of the review results. Candidates who meet the criteria can apply for the "Bachhar Bachao" Examination after the review TBSE results are published.

Students who miss one subject and fail no more than one other subject, but achieve a total of 150 out of 500, will also be considered for the "Bachhar Bachao" exam in the same year.

Candidates who fail one or two subjects in the "Bachhar Bachao" examination can retake those subjects only in the following year's TBSE madhyamik exam as compartmental candidates.

To apply for the "Bachhar Bachao" Examination, candidates must submit the prescribed form through their original school, along with the required fees, within the timeframe set by the Board after TBSE 10th result publication. Those who fail the "Bachhar Bachao" Examination must appear in the following year's madhyamik exam as compartmental candidates.

Tripura Board Grading System

The Board has established a grading system, using eight letter grades from A1 (highest) to E (lowest). A1 signifies a first division, while E indicates a failing grade. The following table details the TBSE grading system, corresponding percentages, and remarks.

In Madhyamik most of the questions are based on the books. If you have sincerely studied the topics from the books then you can definitely score good marks in the boards. Very few questions will be tricky. Practice the test papers as it will be really helpful for the preparation of the exam. You can grasp the question style, difficulty and paper pattern by practicing the test papers. Also, practice the previous years question papers as well.
