The board announced that the CBSE compartment exam 2025 for Class 10 and 12 will be held from July 15, 2025. Class 12 all subject exams will be held on July 15 only, whereas Class 10 exams will be held on various dates.

The CBSE compartment exam date sheet 2025 PDF is expected to be released in June 2025. The official date sheet will be available on both the CBSE website and this page. Students are required to appear only for the subjects in which they have failed, not for all subjects.

Students who do not score the minimum passing marks in one or more subjects are eligible to appear for the CBSE compartment exams. They could fill the CBSE compartment exam form 2025 from May 30 to June 17, 2025, without any late fees.

Eligibility of CBSE Compartment Exams 2025

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) offers compartment examinations for students who do not pass one or two subjects in their Class 10 or Class 12 board exams. This provides an opportunity to clear failed subjects without repeating the entire academic year. CBSE will announce the dates for the 2025 compartment exams for both classes after the regular results are declared.

Number of Attempts Allowed for CBSE Supplementary Exams

CBSE permits up to three attempts to clear the CBSE compartment examination:

  1. First Attempt: Conducted in July/August immediately after the main board exam results.

  2. Second Attempt: Held in March/April of the following year.

  3. Third Attempt: Conducted in July/August of the same year as the second attempt.

If a student fails to pass the compartment exam after three attempts, they must reappear for all subjects in the next annual board examination.

Previous CBSE Supplementary Dates: Get an Idea for this year

Last year, the CBSE conducted the Class 12 Compartment Examination in a single day on July 15, 2024. The Class 10 Compartment Examinations were held from July 15 to July 22, 2024. A total of 1,22,170 students were placed in the Class 12 compartment category. For Class 10, 1,32,337 students were placed in the compartment category. The Class 12 Compartment Results were announced on August 2, 2024, with an overall pass percentage of 29.78%. The Class 10 Compartment Results were declared on August 5, 2024.

Important Instructions for CBSE Compartment Exams 2025

  • All students registered for the CBSE Class 10 and 12 compartment exams 2025 must arrive at their designated exam centre at least 30 minutes before the exams begin.

  • It is mandatory to carry their admit card and school ID to the examination hall. Entry will be denied without these documents.

  • The CBSE Class 10 and 12 compartment exams 2025 will be held from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm, though some subjects may conclude at 12:30 pm.

  • Students will be given 15 minutes to read the question paper before the exam starts.

  • Any student found cheating or using unfair means will face strict disciplinary action.
