About Shiv Nadar School, Noida

Shiv Nadar School, Noida was established in 2012 and is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) & International Baccalaureate (IB). “The guiding idea of all activities at Shiv Nadar School is to promote holistic learning among our children, which is closely aligned with the goals of Round Square. Their experiential learning approach exposes students to real-world concerns and the part that education plays in developing solutions for such problems.” says Shiv Nadar School, Noida’s website.

“For us, every child is a soul in evolution, a psychic being born on earth to grow through experiences and fulfill a deeper sense of purpose. Our task then as teachers is to relate to this spark- the child- with love, and to serve it”, remarks principal Anju Soni on the school's website.

The acclaimed novelist recalled her writing career while describing her upbringing in a small town in Uttar Pradesh where Hindi was the main language. Her interest in Hindi grew as she worked on her PhD on Munshi Premchand. She shot to prominence with her book 'Mai', which was translated into various languages including English, French, and German.

Geetanjali Shree has authored five books and a number of short tales. Daisy Rockwell's Tomb of Sand, a translation of Ret Samadhi from Hindi published in 2018, is the first Hindi book to ever win the International Booker Prize. The novel is a compelling yet urgent protest against the harmful effects of national, religious, and gender boundaries.

“The Booker Prize is not just about me, the individual,” said the author. “I represent a language and culture and this recognition brings into larger purview the entire world of Hindi literature in particular and Indian literature as a whole.”
