For the academic year 2024-25, 90.11% of students passed the UP Board 10th exam, and 81.15% of students passed the Class 12 UP Board exams. Students who fail two subjects are eligible to take UP Board compartment exams. Those who fail three or more subjects must retake those three subjects the following academic year. The UP Board's passing criteria for both theory and practical exams are detailed below.
In UP Board Class 10, theory papers are worth 70 marks, with the remaining marks assigned to practical assessments, making it a total of 100 marks per subject. The UP Board Class 10 curriculum includes five subjects: Mathematics, Science, Social Science, English, and an additional language. Students must achieve a combined score of 33% across both theory and practical exams in each subject to pass.

To pass the UP 12th Board exams 2026, students must achieve a minimum of 33% in both the theory and practical or internal marks of each subject. While most of the UP board 12th question papers are of 100 marks, some subjects have a 70, 60, or 50-mark theory paper combined with a 30, 40, or 50-mark practical exam, respectively.
