The UP Board exams passing marks 2026 are 33% for both Class 10 and Class 12. This means that students need to score at least 33 marks out of 100 in each subject to pass the exam. For subjects with both a theory and a practical exam, students need to score 33% in both the theory and practical exams separately. The UP Board also follows a grading system, and students must obtain a grade of D or above in each subject to pass the exam.

Students who fail two subjects are eligible to take UP Board compartment exams. Those who fail three or more subjects must retake those three subjects the following academic year. The UP Board's passing criteria for both theory and practical exams are detailed below.
In UP Board Class 10, theory papers are worth 70 marks, with the remaining marks assigned to practical assessments, making it a total of 100 marks per subject. The UP Board Class 10 curriculum includes five subjects: Mathematics, Science, Social Science, English, and an additional language. Students must achieve a combined score of 33% across both theory and practical exams in each subject to pass.

To pass the UP 12th Board exams 2026, students must achieve a minimum of 33% in both the theory and practical or internal marks of each subject. While most of the UP board 12th question papers are of 100 marks, some subjects have a 70, 60, or 50-mark theory paper combined with a 30, 40, or 50-mark practical exam, respectively. Students who do not achieve a minimum score of 33% are considered to have failed. Those who fail one or two subjects are eligible to take UP board compartment exams. The dates of which will be announced along with the main UP results. Students failing more than two subjects must repeat the academic year.
The UP Board employs a grading system, ranging from A1 (highest) to E2 (lowest), to assess student performance in each subject. Check the UP Board grading pattern for both classes:
