Students who fail in one subject in the UP Board 12th exams are eligible to apply for the 2025 compartment exams, providing them a second opportunity to pass those specific subjects. However, failing in more than one subject means the student is considered to have failed the board exam outright and cannot sit for the compartment, potentially requiring them to repeat the entire year
Additionally, those who are unhappy with their marks, even in passed subjects, can take improvement exams to enhance their scores. Applications for both the compartment and improvement exams can be submitted either online through the UPMSP website (upmsp.edu.in) or offline via their school. The application process has now closed for the academic year 2024-25.

Students were able to submit the compartmental or improvement exam form for the UP Board Intermediate compartment exam from May 19 to June 10, 2025, via the board’s online portal. If your registration is done in Class 12 UP Board Hindi medium , then your question papers will be in Hindi , because the medium is fixed at the time of registration.
If you want to write the exam in English , you must change your medium of instruction through your school before the board exam forms are finalized. Without changing it officially, you cannot get English-medium papers.
If the school updates your medium to English, then you can write the exam in English and there will be no problem .
So, check with your school immediately and request them to change your exam medium. Only then you can write in English.
