The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the CBSE Board exam 2026 for Class 10th from February 17 to March 10, 2026, and the CBSE 12th board exams from February 17 to April 9, 2026. As the big exam day gets closer, students may feel excited and nervous. To ensure a smooth and fair examination process, the board outlines specific CBSE guidelines for students. These guidelines cover a range of aspects, including essential items to bring to the exam hall, designated timings, and instructions for the exam day itself. The students need to follow these instructions during the examination and while they are in the CBSE Board exam centre. The students need to carry the permitted items to the exam centre. The students must not carry any of the prohibited items to their exam centre as it may lead to penalties.
This article will focus on the key items students must carry to the exam centre to facilitate a successful and stress-free board exam experience.
The CBSE admit card is your absolute must-have for the exam. CBSE Class 10 admit card and 12th admit card are your ticket to enter the exam hall and contain all your essential information, such as your roll number, school code, exam centre details, and photo. Always carry a few extra photocopies of your CBSE 12 admit card and 10th admit card as a backup, just in case. Keep the original safe – losing it can cause serious problems.
Your school ID card acts as a secondary form of identification, so make sure to bring it with you to the CBSE exam centre.
Check with your school if transparent pouches are required. Bring the following stationery items:
The use of any of the below-mentioned items, or any similar item, during the CBSE examination will be considered an act of "Unfair Means" and will be subject to disciplinary action as per the relevant rules and regulations of the CBSE
Carry a clear, transparent water bottle. Opaque bottles are generally not permitted. You can usually refill your water bottle at the exam centre.

The use of a simple wristwatch without any additional features (such as a calculator) is permissible during the examination. However, the use of smartwatches is strictly prohibited within the examination hall. Also, adhere to the prescribed CBSE dress code by ensuring you are wearing your complete school uniform.
To mitigate any potential confusion or pre-exam anxiety, it is advisable to visit the designated exam centre a day or two before the CBSE examination date, especially if you are uncertain about its location.
Arriving at the exam centre at least 30 minutes before the scheduled commencement time is highly recommended. This allows for adequate time to settle in and alleviate any last-minute anxiety.
To ensure thorough preparation, compile a comprehensive checklist that includes all the essential items you will need to bring to the exam centre. Before departing for the exam centre, review this checklist to ensure that you have not omitted any crucial items.
Lastly, carefully listen to and follow all instructions given by the invigilators.
