WBBME – West Bengal Board of Madrasah Education: Exams, Results, & Syllabus

WBBME stands for West Bengal Board of Madrasah Education. It's an autonomous body established by the West Bengal government to oversee and regulate Madrasah education in the state. About WBBME

The foundation of the Calcutta Madrasah in 1780 by the British East India Company marked the beginning of Madrasah education in Bengal. In 1915, a new scheme for Madrasah education was introduced under Moulana Abu Nasar Mohammad Waheed, an educationist and administrator.

Several boards, including the East Bengal Secondary Education Board, the Board of Islamic Intermediate and Secondary Education Dacca, and the Central Madrasah Examination Board, were established to conduct Madrasah examinations until 1947. Following the recommendations of the Moazzamuddin Committee in 1946, the Central Madrasah Examination Board was transformed into the Madrasah Education Board, Bengal, which was subsequently renamed the West Bengal Board of Madrasah Education in 1950. This board remains the oldest Madrasah education board in India.
