WBBME Board 2026 Highlights

About WBBME

The foundation of the Calcutta Madrasah in 1780 by the British East India Company marked the beginning of Madrasah education in Bengal. In 1915, a new scheme for Madrasah education was introduced under Moulana Abu Nasar Mohammad Waheed, an educationist and administrator.

Several boards, including the East Bengal Secondary Education Board, the Board of Islamic Intermediate and Secondary Education Dacca, and the Central Madrasah Examination Board, were established to conduct Madrasah examinations until 1947. Following the recommendations of the Moazzamuddin Committee in 1946, the Central Madrasah Examination Board was transformed into the Madrasah Education Board, Bengal, which was subsequently renamed the West Bengal Board of Madrasah Education in 1950. This board remains the oldest Madrasah education board in India.

Activities of the WBBME Board 2026

• The West Bengal Madrasah Board publishes textbooks for all classes for different subjects.
• The conduct of examinations by the WBBME board is for Class X and Class XII.
• It prepares and publishes training modules for a comprehensive and continuous grading system and evaluation.
• The board prepares an academic calendar to help students and teachers in institutional planning.
• Training modules for the Orientation of Managing Committee members and "Prasikshan Sahaiyaka" for Kamil and MM teachers are prepared.
• The WBBME board organises the West Bengal State Madrasah Games and Sports Meet jointly with the sports committee.
• The West Bengal Madrasah Education Board publishes journals in the name of "Madrasah Darpan", where the board's activities and various academic aspects will be discussed related to education.

Ongoing Orientation Programmes

• The Orientation workshop of the MM and Kamil passes teachers on "Curriculum Transaction" in the light of NCF-2005 in collaboration with SSA.
• Capacity building and setting up of the state resource group for the Madrasah education in collaboration with UNICEF.
• The board organises induction training programmes as the Model Madrasah Project for newly appointed teachers in collaboration with SSA, Vikramshila, and WIPRO. This is for the Quality Improvement of Madrasah education.
• To improve the quality of Geography and learning science, the board organises the application of an innovative pedagogical approach in collaboration with SSA and the Science Communicative Forum.

The WBBME Board announced the High Madrasah, Alim, and Fazil exam dates for 2026 and released the WB Madrasah routine 2026 PDF through the official website. The West Bengal Madrasah routine includes exam dates, timing, venue, exam day instructions, and other important details. The Madrasah exam was conducted from 10:45 am to 2 pm.
