Kerala DHSE Exam Date:06 Mar' 26 - 06 Mar' 26
The Directorate of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala (DHSE Kerala) follows 9-point grading system. The exam will be held for a total of 100 marks. Students appearing for the Kerala +2 exam must score a minimum of 30% marks or a D+ grade in aggregate and in each subject separately to pass the examination. The Kerala plus two exam is expected to be held in March 2026.
The Kerala plus 2 question paper is divided into two parts: theory and practical. Subjects with practicals carry 60 marks for theory, and 40 marks will be assigned for practical. Whereas, for subjects without practical, 80 marks are allotted to theory and the remaining 20 marks to internal assessment. Below, in this article, we have provided detailed information on the Kerala plus two grading system and CGPA for candidates’ understanding.
The Kerala +2 grading is based on the combined scores from the first and second-year examinations. To pass the exam, students must score 30% or above in aggregate and each subject separately.
30% of the total score, i.e., 200 (combination of CE+PE+TE), is 60 marks, or 30 marks out of 100 (first/second year per subject score).
Refer to the Kerala plus two grading system below.
Grade | Combined grade range (first year+second year) | Grade | Points |
A+ | 180-200 | 90-100 | 9 |
A | 160-179 | 80-89 | 8 |
B+ | 140-159 | 70-79 | 7 |
B | 120-139 | 60-69 | 6 |
C+ | 100-119 | 50-59 | 5 |
C | 80-99 | 40-49 | 4 |
D+ | 60-79 | 30-39 | 3 |
D | 40-59 (Score less than 30%) | 20-29 (fail) | 2 |
E | Below-40 | Below-19 | 1 |
The CGPA refers to Cumulative Grade Point Average. It is the average of grade points obtained in all subjects. Student can calculate their Kerala plus 2 CGPA by multiplying the total grade points by the number of subjects. For example: if a student scores the following points in respective subjects:
English - 9
Maths - 8
Biology - 9
Chemistry - 7
Physics - 7
The CGPA will be: (9+8+9+7+7)/5
i.e., 46/5 = 9.2
Hence, the CGPA = 9.2
And, if a student wishes to calculate their overall percentage, then they can multiply the CGPA by 9.5. Hence, if the CGPA of the candidate is 9.2, then their overall percentage will be:
9.2 X 9.2= 84.64%.
