How can I calculate my score using the answer key?

The CBSE 12th Geography exam is a 70-mark theory paper. Use the following calculation method:

  • Section A (MCQs): Match your answers exactly. (17 Marks)

  • Section B, C, & D: Check if your answer includes the points mentioned in the key. CBSE follows step-marking, so even if the conclusion is slightly off, they can still earn some points for correct facts.

  • Section E (Map Work): Check the precise locations on the India and World maps. (10 Marks)

Number of Questions in CBSE 12th Geography Exam

The CBSE Class 12 Geography examination is conducted as part of the Humanities/Arts stream and is based on the latest CBSE syllabus and blueprint. The exam evaluates students’ understanding of physical geography, human geography, and practical skills.

The theory paper is held for 80 marks, while 20 marks are allotted for internal assessment, which includes project work, practical file, and viva. The theory exam lasts 3 hours.

The CBSE 12th Geography paper will be worth 70 marks (with 30 marks for practicals) and follows this structure:

A:

The CBSE 12th Geography answer key will be available within 2-4 hours after the exam ends at 1:30 PM. These are released by educational portals and coaching institutes.

Q: What are the passing marks for Geography?
A:

To pass, the student must score at least 33% in theory and practical separately:

  • Theory: Minimum 23 out of 70.

  • Practical: Minimum 10 out of 30.

Failing to meet the 33% CBSE pass marks in the theory paper will result in an RT (Repeat Theory) status, even if the total marks (Theory + Practical) exceed 33.
