Competency-focused questions implementation targets practical and purposeful education. The educational targets of CBSE are not only focused on memorization but toward mastery of information applications in practical scenarios. The aim of CBSE is to introduce competency-focused questions for Class 10 because it desires students to become ready for future studies, jobs, and higher education.
Learning becomes better when students solve competency-based questions because these questions help them understand concepts and apply and solve problems instead of learning facts by memory. Here’s why they are important:
Competency-based questions help students not only understand the topic clearly but also solve the problems practically and utilize their skills which help them in the future.
Competency-based questions help students to apply their knowledge practically to daily scenarios and utilize their skills.
Problem-solving becomes stronger through these types of questions because students learn to solve problems instead of merely remembering answers.
Competency-based questions help the student to think and use their creativity. Students can think creatively and innovate their answers, instead of writing the fixed memorized answers

The remaining half of the paper consists of:
Select Response Type Questions (MCQs) – Questions with fixed answer choices.
