KVPY is divided into three streams- SA, SX and SB.
Of these, SA is taken by students of 11, SX by students in class and SB by students in their first year of undergraduate studies.
Stream SA, SX and SB exam are held for 100 marks each.
All the streams are divided into parts.
There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks in part one questions and 0.5 in part 2 questions.

According to the officials, it is suggested to prepare the science syllabus up to class 10th/ 11th/ 12th/ 1st year of B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. as applicable. KVPY Mock Test 2021

Syllabus for SX Stream is as following:
There are fours subjects- Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and biology.
All syllabus and important topics of class X, XI and XII and 1st year of Bsc. is included in the SX syllabus. Important topics are as below
Magnetic Effects of Current, Reflection of Light, Electromagnetic Induction, Kinematics, Work, Energy and Power, Sources of Energy, Thermodynamics, Electrostatics, Refraction, Current Electricity, Electromagnetic Induction, and Alternating Current, Physical World, and Measurement, Gravitation, Laws of Motion.
Surface Chemistry, States of Matter: Gases and Liquids, Metals and Nonmetals, Carbon Compounds, Basic Concepts of Chemistry, Thermodynamics, Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties, Chemical Reactions, Environmental Chemistry, Solid State, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Isolation of Elements, Periodic Classification of Elements.
Cell: Structure and Function, Genetics and Evolution, Human Physiology, Biology, and Human Welfare, Control and Coordination in Animals and Plants, Ecology and Environment, Life Processes, Plant Physiology, Diversity of Living Organisms, Reproduction.
Real Number, Polynomials, Introduction to Trigonometry, Surface Areas and Volumes, Trigonometric Functions, Geometry, Linear Programming, Vectors, and 3D Geometry, Calculus, Relations and Functions, Coordinate Geometry, Mathematical Reasoning, Statistics, and Quadratic Equations, Probability, Statistics, and Probability.
The examination is held in two parts for the different streams.
For SX streams, the students will get questions in 4 sections namely Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology in both the parts. They can choose any 3 among the 4 subjects in Part 1 and any 2 among the 4 subjects in Part 2. In case, the students attempt more sections than specified, the best 3 in part one and the best 2 in Part 2 will be taken into consideration.
When you prepare for something it is not only necessary to cover the syllabus but practice is more important. You have to keep on practicing all the chapters that you have completed of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. As biology is a completely different subject that doesn't require you to practice any formulas ,you need to revise and learn it daily so as to jog your memory. Finally,even if your scores are not upto the mark in mock tests,keep on doing them as mock tests are the key to scoring good marks. KVPY is a tough examination which requires a research based mindset and all the basics and concepts cleared thoroughly. KVPY SX stream syllabus includes concepts of Physics, Math, Chemistry and Biology
till Class 12
. KVPY SX aspirants need to finish class 11 and 12 syllabus before November
Since there is no unit and topic based prescribed syllabus, KVPY SX stream aspirants can study from NCERT books and IIT JEE (NEET for Biology) coaching material.
KVPY SX/ SB exam has two parts. In Part-I, there will be 80 questions (20 each of PCMB), a student has to
attempt only 3 subjects questions
i.e. 60 questions. In Part-II, there will be 40 questions (10 each of PCMB), a student has to
attempt only 2 subjects questions
i.e. 20 questions.
Choose any three subjects you’re strong in. In that two should be extremely strong. Chemistry and Biology are scoring subjects.
Study tips for KVPY Exam
One of the concerns for KVPY SX aspirants is how they are going to manage KVPY preparation with board exams. Don’t worry. For KVPY SX preparation, you need to complete class 12 syllabus.
