NMMS Exam 2018 - Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) was conducted NMMS 2018 exam through SCERT's of the respective states. National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship or NMMS exam 2018 was held on November 4, 2018, in the offline mode in some states while others conducted it on other dates of November/December 2018. All States/UTs closed the NMMS application process 2018 and released the NMMS 2018 admit card in 15 days prior to the exam. Students who are studying in class VIII from any recognised school and with parental income not more than Rs. 1,50,000 could apply for NMMS. The exam was held for a total of 180 marks for the following two sets- Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Ability Test (SAT).

The main objective of NMMS is to award scholarships to 100,000 students who belong to economically weaker sections and encourage them to continue their education at the secondary stage. Selected students of NMMS exam 2018 will be awarded the scholarship of Rs. 500 per month from class IX till class XII. NMMS 2018 Admit Card 

The hall ticket of NMMS exam was made available in October 2018. Candidates whose applications were accepted were able to collect the admit card of NMMS 2018 from their school/ institution in which they are studying. Some States released the hall ticket online on the official website. NMMS admit card 2018 comprises details such as candidate’s name, roll number etc. along with the date, time and venue of the exam. One must carry the admit card along with them on exam day as they will not be allowed to take the exam in its absence. Test takers had to submit their NMMS 2018 admit card to the invigilator after the exam is over. Hence, they are suggested to keep a xerox copy of the same with them and retain it until the entire selection process gets over. 

NMMS 2018 Exam Pattern and Syllabus 

Students preparing for NMMS can go through the exam pattern of NMMS 2018 to know about the marking scheme, the number of questions and so on. The test comprises two sections, Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). Details regarding NMMS exam pattern 2018 are given below:

MAT – This section comprises 90 multiple choice questions to test a candidate’s reasoning and critical thinking skills. The questions will be based on analogy, pattern perception, classification, hidden figures etc.

SAT – This paper consists of 90 multiple choice questions covering topics from Science, Social Science and Mathematics. 

There is no prescribed syllabus for NMMS 2018. However, the paper will cover questions from the syllabus of class VII and VIII.

NMMS Question Paper 

One can practice NMMS question papers of previous years to get a better idea about the exam. This acquaints students with the exam pattern and the type of questions asked in the exam. NMMS question papers are made available along with their answer keys. The question paper of NMMS familiarizes candidates with the exam pattern and difficulty level of the exam among others. They also help them analyse their preparation level, identify their weak areas and work on them. 

NMMS 2018 Answer Key 

The examination conducting bodies of each state released official answer key of NMMS 2018 in the third week of November 2018 on the official website. with the help of NMMS answer key 2018, students are able to calculate their probable scores in the exam and analyse their performance even before the result is released. Students have to compare their answers with those given in the answer key to calculate their expected scores keeping in mind the NMMS exam pattern.

NMMS 2018 Result 

NMMS result of Haryana, Chattisgarh, Gujarat and Karnataka states has been declared online. SCERT of all other States and UT will also release NMMS result in January/February 2019. NMMS Result 2018 is made available online and to check it, candidates have to enter their roll number and school code in the login window. Some of the participating states release NMMS 2018 result in the form of merit lists which includes the names of selected candidates. The result includes information like candidate’s name, roll number, section-wise score etc. One can follow the steps below to view and download NMMS result:

  • Enter the roll number in the login window

  • Enter the school code (if applicable). The result will be displayed on the screen.

  • Download result and take a printout of it. Retain it for future reference.

NMMS 2018 Scholarship 

Scholarship holders must be promoted in single attempts through the years to Class 12 with 55% of marks (50% for reserved category) and 60% in class 10 (55% for reserved) for the continuation of scholarship. The selected candidates will have to open a joint account with parents in the State Bank of India and the amount will be deposited by the bank in their account on a quarterly basis. NMMS 2018 will provide scholarships to candidates under the following four categories:

  1. Pre - Matric Scholarship Scheme - For students studying from Class 1st to Class 10th.

  2. Post - Matric Scholarship Scheme - For students studying in Class 11, 12 and above including courses like B. Tech, Medical, ITI, B.SC, B. Com. etc.

  3. Top Class Scholarship Scheme - For students studying in top level colleges across India such as IITs and IIMs.

  4. Merit cum Means (MCM) Scholarship Scheme - This scheme is for students pursuing technical and professional courses at graduation and post-graduation level.

  • Students must obtain 55% (50% for reserved categories) in class IX and XI

  • Students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sainik schools

  • Students studying in residential schools run by state government institutions with facilities like boarding, lodging and education

  • Students pursuing their studies in private schools

NMMS 2018 Application Form

All States and UTs was released NMMS application form 2018 in July/August 2018. The last date to fill the form was in the last week of September 2018. Candidates must check the eligibility norms and keep the required documents ready before filling NMMS application form 2018. They were able to obtain the NMMS application form 2018 online or offline from the Liasion Officer appointed in each state and UT. The completely filled NMMS 2018 Application Form had to be submitted offline to the head of the institution where students are studying.
