KVPY 2019 - IISC, Banglore will conduct Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana 2019. It is a national level scholarship program for students enrolled in classes 11, 12 and 1st year UG courses. The official notification and KVPY registration link will be available from 1st week of July 2019. Student’s selection will be made on the basis of their performance in the aptitude test and personal interview. According to previous year’s details, KVPY Exam 2019 is likely to be held on November 3, 2019 in computer-based or online mode. KVPY eligibility terms are available on the official website, kvpy.iisc.ernet.in. Aspirants should carefully check the eligibility before applying for KVPY 2019. Candidates will need the scanned copy of passport sized photograph, signature and payment details to fill the application form. The online KVPY application form link will remain active till August 2019. The exam conducting authority will not accept the application form submitted through any other mode.

KVPY 2019 Eligibility Criteria

Only those candidates who fulfil the KVPY eligibility criteria can apply for the KVPY 2019 fellowship. Each stream of KVPY specifies different eligibility criteria. The requirement of every stream is mentioned below:

  • SA stream - Students enrolled in class 11 can apply. Students must have scored 75% (65% for SC/ST/PWD) aggregate in Maths and science subjects. Minimum marks in class 12 should be 60% (50% for reserved categories).

  • SX stream - Students enrolled in class 12 can apply under this stream. The minimum marks in class 10 should be 75% (65% for SC/ST/PWD) aggregate in Maths and science subjects while marks in class 12 should be a minimum of 60% (50% for reserved categories).

  • SB stream - Those studying in UG first year can apply under this stream. Marks in class 12 should be a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD). Marks in UG First Year should be at least 60% (50% for reserved categories).

KVPY Application Form

According to the latest information, KVPY 2019 registration will commence from the first week of July 2019. The process to apply for KVPY 2019 has been mentioned here in a simplified manner. Refer the same to avoid any issues while filling the application form.

How to Fill the KVPY 2019 Application form?

The application form filling process includes the below-given steps-

Step 1: Registration- Candidates should visit the official website for KVPY to access the registration link. Click on the “New Registration” tab and register yourself by using the valid e-mail ID and mobile number. After successful registration, candidates will receive a confirmation on the registered E-mail ID/Mobile Number with computer-generated username and password.

Step 2: Filling All Asked Details- Login to your account with the help of auto-generated username and password. Fill the application form with correct personal and academic information and select the three test centre preference.

Step 3: Upload the Required Documents- In this step, candidates should upload the scanned images of their recent passport-size photograph, and signature in JPG/JPEG format. The file-sizes should be below 500 KB and 200 KB respectively.

Step 4: Payment of Application Fees- After filling the application form, pay the requisite application fee through online or offline mode.

KVPY 2019 Exam Centres

The exam will be conducted across various KVPY exam centres in 99 exam cities in India. Along with the application form, list of KVPY test centres will be released. Candidates have to select at least three preferences of exam cities in the application form. IISc will allot an available exam centre on the first-come-first-serve basis. KVPY 2019 Admit Card

IISc will release the admit card of KVPY 2019 in the second week of October 2019. Applicants should bring a printed copy of the admit card with a valid ID proof while appearing for the test. Check the given steps to download the admit card without any hassle-

KVPY 2019 Syllabus

IISc Bangalore does not prescribe KVPY syllabus as the exam aims at testing the analytical ability and understanding of candidates rather than their factual knowledge. However, students preparing for KVPY 2019 have to cover all important topics/sections which have been devised from the questions asked in the exam year after year. The sections covered in the KVPY syllabus 2019 are Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology of up to class 10, 12 and 1st year of B.Sc., B.S., B.Stat., B.Math., Int. M.Sc. or M.S., depending on the stream applied for. Thus, we can say that the KVPY syllabus includes all the topics of the above subjects covered in the NCERT books.

How to Prepare for KVPY 2019

Candidates should clear all their basic concepts first and then proceed further to problem-solving.

  • Before starting the preparation, candidates should get the complete syllabus and exam pattern as they contain important topics and

  • Candidates must solve KVPY previous year’s question papers and sample papers as much as possible.

  • Take mock tests to speed up the calculation and reading.

  • During the last week, only revise the important facts and concepts instead of preparing a fresh article.

KVPY 2019 Exam Pattern

The KVPY exam pattern provides the details like the number of questions asked, marking scheme, total marks, the medium of paper, duration and so on. While SA stream has questions from Science and Mathematics wherein attempting all questions is compulsory, SB and SX stream has two parts divided into four sections each including Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. A student must answer three subjects in part one and two subjects in part two. A candidate may attempt more or all of the subjects. In that case best of three and two would be considered in part I and II respectively.

  • KVPY Exam 2019 will be conducted in online mode.

  • The duration of KVPY 2019 will be of 03 hours.

  • All questions will be of multiple choice or objective type

  • There will be separate marking for Part 1 and Part 2 Sections

  • KVPY 2019 Exam will be held in both English and Hindi language.

The previous years’ question papers of KVPY are available on the official website in English and Hindi languages. KVPY 2019 Mock Test

Mock Tests are model tests of the exam that follows the KVPY exam pattern and is bound by the time. These mock tests can be accessed from the official website or from different coaching institutes. Practising mock test will help candidates to know their performance level. It is better to solve the maximum number of mock tests to improve their performance in the examination.

IISc Bangalore will release the mock test of KVPY 2019 in the second week of September. Candidates will have to complete the mock test within the stipulated time. After giving a mock test, candidate’s must analyze their performance on the basis of time taken to answer the paper, the questions that took long to solve, accuracy levels etc.


KVPY 2019 Answer Key

IISc Bangalore will release the KVPY question papers and their respective answer key in the second week of November 2019. The answer key carries the correct answers to all the questions asked in the exam. With the help of KVPY answer key, candidates can calculate their probable score in KVPY 2019 before the announcement of result. The KVPY answer key 2019 will be issued online on its official website.


KVPY 2019 Result

Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore will release the result of the aptitude test in the third week of December 2019 in the online mode. The KVPY result will be released in the form of merit list which contains the name and roll numbers of qualified candidates. The result list will be issued separately for SA stream and SB/SX for different categories. Students can follow the steps below to know

KVPY 2019 Scholarship

KVPY scholarship will be awarded to selected candidates after they start pursuing approved UG science courses. Initially, the scholarship will be awarded for only one year. If candidates passed the first year with 60% or equivalent (50% for SC/ST & PwD candidates), then the KVPY fellowship will be renewed.

KVPY 2019 Cutoff

IISc sets the cutoff marks of KVPY for the final selection. The cutoff is the minimum qualifying marks set to qualify the aptitude test and personal interview of each stream. Candidates who obtained the KVPY written test cutoff marks will be called to appear for the personal interview. IISc Bangalore will release the final KVPY cutoff after the conduct of the interview. Those who qualify in the round of interview will be awarded the KVPY 2019 fellowship. Separate cutoff of KVPY 2019 is released for each stream and category.

KVPY 2019 Merit List

Along with the result, IISc will release the separate merit lists for each stream. The KVPY merit list will be created on the basis of candidate’s marks in the written test. The list will contain the name, roll number, application number and rank of the candidates. The final merit list will be issued in the month of April 2020.


KVPY 2019 Selection Process

The selection process of KVPY includes two stages, written test and personal interview. Candidates who qualify the written test with minimum cut off marks will be called for interview round, to be held in the third week of January 2020.

Shortlisted candidates will receive interview dates, time & venue through email/website. While appearing in the interview, candidates should bring the given document for verification-

Q. Who do I contact in case I have any KVPY examination centre related queries?

Q. What are the examination timings of KVPY 2019?

A: KVPY 2019 for Stream SA will be held from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and that for stream SB/SX will be conducted from 2 pm to 5 pm. Candidates should report to their allotted exam centre before 1 hour.

Q. What is the syllabus of KVPY 2019?

A: IISc Bangalore does not prescribe any specific syllabus for the aptitude test. Students will be evaluated on the basis of their understanding and analytical ability. However, there will be questions from the syllabus up to class X/XII/ UG first year as applicable.

Q. Will I be allowed to carry the calculator in KVPY examination hall?

A: No, calculators or any electronic devices are not permitted. You can use Virtual calculators which will be made available on the computer screen.

Q. Can KVPY 2019 be attempted in the Hindi Language?

A: Yes, you can attempt the KVPY 2019 exam in either English or Hindi Language.

Q. If I already have been awarded with another scholarship, can I avail the KVPY Fellowship?

A: No. KVPY scholarship cannot be availed along with another fellowship /scholarship, be it government or private. In order to avail KVPY 2019 fellowship, students will have to relinquish any other fellowship or scholarship that they are in receipt of.
