Must be a permanent resident of Bihar.
Must be studying in post-matriculation courses (Class 11/12, Diploma, Undergraduate, Post-Graduate, Professional Courses) in government or recognised non-government institutions within Bihar (though SC/ST students studying outside Bihar may also be eligible for some components).
Income Limit: The total annual income of the applicant's parents/guardian from all sources should generally not exceed Rs 3,00,000/- per annum.
Must have passed the previous examination (e.g., 10th or 12th).

Important Note on Application:
Institute Registration: For a student to apply, their college/institution must first be registered on the PMS Portal. If they cannot find their institution, they must contact the institution's nodal officer.
Verification: The payment is released only after physical verification processes are complete.
First, visit the NSP Portal and complete the One-Time Registration (OTR). Check What is OTR on NSP.
Next, go to the official PMS Portal at pmsonline.bihar.gov.in.
Use the OTR number students received to register on the PMS Portal.
Fill in all the required information and submit the student registration details.
After successful registration, students will receive their login details via SMS or Email.
Log in using the credentials and complete the application form, including the personal and educational information.
Scan all necessary documents and upload them as a PDF file. The file size must be up to 150 KB.
Carefully review the entire PMS Bihar application for accuracy before finalising and taking a printout for the records.
In addition to the RTPS counter at the Block-cum-Anchal office, a free facility for applying and downloading caste, income, and residence certificates is available at Panchayat Government buildings. Any person can apply online for these certificates by visiting serviceonline.bihar.gov.in. Once the certificate is approved, it can be downloaded from anywhere. Aadhaar Number: The applicant must have a valid Aadhaar number.
Caste Certificate: Must be valid as of the current date and issued in the applicant’s name (self-issued).
Residence Certificate: Must be valid as of the current date and issued in the applicant’s name.
Income Certificate: Must be valid as of the current date as per Post Matric Scholarship 2024-25 guidelines and issued in the name of the applicant, mother, or father.
Bank Account: The applicant’s bank account must be linked (seeded) with the Aadhaar number to enable Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Maintenance Fee (First-Year Students): While claiming maintenance allowance for first-year courses, students must provide their Admission Date mentioned on the Fee Receipt or Bonafide Certificate for verification purposes.
The PMS Bihar Board matric scholarship amount varies based on the course of study (e.g., UG, PG, Professional courses). Such as
UG: Rs 500- 1000/month
PG: Rs 1000- 1200/month
This covers a tuition fee component and a maintenance allowance.
All students are advised to regularly check the status of their scholarship application through SMS, email, and the PMS portal, and make necessary corrections or updates if required.
The Post-Matric Scholarship amount will be disbursed only after successful verification of the caste, income, and residence certificates uploaded by the applicant.
If any document is missing or found to be incorrect, students must log in again and upload the correct document and document number.
Students should also check their application status using their Aadhaar number and date of birth. If your record is not found, please submit a new application.

All students must ensure that their Aadhaar number is linked (seeded) with their bank account for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The correct bank account should be linked with Aadhaar; otherwise, the scholarship amount will not be credited.
Students are required to submit a hard copy of their application form to their respective institute.

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) is expected to conduct the Class 10 Sent-Up exam for 2026 in November 2025 .
However, the board has not yet released the official date sheet . The exact dates will be announced soon by BSEB.
