Important Highlights of ISC Specimen Papers 2026

  • The ISC Specimen Papers 2026 are created under the supervision of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, making them the best practice material for Class 12 students getting ready for board examinations.

  • These specimen papers match the actual ISC exams, even students may know the question pattern of the marking scheme and types of questions like multiple choice, short answer, and long answer questions.

  • These exam papers are very useful in understanding the actual weightage given to different topics by the boards, so that students can prioritise those topics of higher weightage.

  • Once the students solve this paper, they will know the subject in which they are good and what weaknesses might require them to look back through those topics to work on them.

  • Since the questions in these specimen papers are indeed very similar to those in the real exam, solving them will help students become familiar with the style and format of questions.

  • Regular practice with specimen papers can significantly boost confidence as students will have a clear idea of what to expect on exam day.

  • The specimens provide students with detailed answers that would help students know how to approach every question.

When and How to Use ISC Specimen Papers 2026

ISC specimen papers can effectively be utilised 3-4 months before the exam, after completing the ISC syllabus. The papers will now help you identify your grasp of various subjects and work on them accordingly. In the revision phase, as you are approaching the exam, specimen papers come in handy in revisiting key concepts while familiarising you with the exam pattern. It would also be wise to settle your specimen papers as part of a weekly plan that keeps you consistent with your preparation and prepares you with extra confidence.

In the last week before the exam, it is good to treat the specimen papers as mock tests under real exam conditions. This will help you practice time management and also assess how ready you are to face the exam. To gain maximum value from the specimen paper, solve the papers without referring to your notes, while ensuring you adhere to the timing prescribed for the actual exam, for practice in time management.

After completing the paper, refer to your answers closely, focusing on the mistakes made and revising those areas. By doing this repeatedly, you will boost your accuracy and build confidence going into the real exam.

Hey Niharika,

Getting admission in IITs or NITs doesn’t depend only on your Class 12 percentage. The main criteria is your JEE performance. For IITs, you need to clear JEE Advanced after qualifying JEE Main. For NITs, admission is through JEE Main rank.

As per eligibility, you must score at least 75% in Class 12 (for General/OBC) or be in the top 20 percentile of your board. Since you got 74.8% overall, it’s slightly less than 75, but if your board’s top 20 percentile cutoff is lower, you may still be eligible. In that case, you can sit for JEE counseling.

So, your admission chance depends mainly on:

1. Your JEE Main/Advanced rank.

2. Whether your board percentile rule covers your marks.

So, If you clear these, yes, you can get into an IIT/NIT depending on your JEE score. Otherwise, you might need to consider other engineering colleges.

To appear in the JEE Mains exams, the students must have qualified Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects, and to appear in the JEE Advanced , the students must have attained 75% (for General/OBC) in Class 12.

As you are a student from the ICSE board , the percentage is calculated based on the best of 5 subjects, and based on this rule, your percentage is not up to 75%. Therefore, you are not eligible to appear in the JEE examination.
