Sherwood Convent School, Gurugram, organised a visit to Capt. Chandanlal Special School for blind, Behrampur for members of the student council and Interact club on October 17, 2022. Sanjeev Kumar Anand, member of the administrative staff of the blind school, explained to students how things worked there. Students were in awe of the effort put forth by the blind children to learn reading, writing, computer, music, and navigational abilities. They were enthralled by a young girl's sweet melody and the agility with which she played the harmonium. Students brought treats in paper bags, including groceries and old glossy magazines and books for them to practise braille.

It is managed by New Ekta Educational Society (NEES) and affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). “Sherwood Convent offers programmes in three different categories—Early Learning, Middle Years, and Senior Years. Sherwood Convent School, recently hosted Hubs of Learning meet on 'Behavioural Changes Among Students'. Representatives from the member schools— Delhi Public School, Sushant Lok, The Paras World School, The Navyandhra School, Jhankar School, and Vega School were present at the meeting. The members were welcomed by principal Kanchan Malik, who briefed them on the goals of the CBSE board in establishing ‘Hubs of Learning’. All educators discussed the difficulties and issues that children had encountered since COVID. Members also talked about further steps that could be taken to assist the students.

The visit to Capt. Chandanlal Special School for blind, Behrampur was part of Sherwood’s ‘Giving back to Society Week’ which is an integral part of their Diwali celebrations. Students with visual impairment demonstrated a fantastic illustration of how losing one sense doesn’t stop one from living their lives, if they have the ability to explore new possibilities.
