About KVPY 2018

Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is conducted and implemented by Indian Institute of Science Banglore. It is a national scholarship programme in basic sciences initiated and funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) to encourage students to pursue courses and research in the field of Science. Candidates are selected for scholarship on the basis of an aptitude test followed by an interview. The application for KVPY is an online process and aptitude test is a computer-based test. The online application process began on July 11, 2018, at 5 PM and the last date to fill the application form online was August 31, 2018, at 5 PM. The application fee payment for KVPY had been extended and closed on September 7, 2018 at 5 PM. The admit card will be released online in the second week of October 2018. The KVPY 2018 exam will be conducted on November 4, 2018.

IISc released the online KVPY application form on July 11, 2018. The last date to fill online application form is August 31, 2018. It is a three-step procedure wherein 

  • step one is registration of students, 
  • step two is filling details- personal and academic, uploading of signature and photograph and other details, 
  • step three is fee payment which is to be done in online mode via net banking, credit or debit card payments.

KVPY 2018 Preparation Tips:

  • Candidates must prepare the whole syllabus, avoid skipping any topics.
  • Students must practice previous year question papers and sample papers as many times as required.
  • They must also practice the mock test provided by KVPY which allows them to experience actual exam environment.
  • Exercise regularly and take breaks in between studies to keep you fresh and active.
  • Revise all topics a month before the exam.
  • Students preparing for competitive exams like JEE, NEET need not to separately study for KVPY as the syllabus is same. So they can easily go through KVPY exam.

KVPY 2018 Exam Pattern

KVPY SA

  • KVPY exam is a computer-based test consisting of 80 multiple choice questions. It is divided into two parts – Part 1 consists of 60 questions of 1 mark each for right answers and negative marking of 0.25 marks for wrong answers
  •  Part 2 consists of 20 questions of 2 marks each for right answers and negative marking of 0.5 marks for wrong answers. 
  • KVPY exam for stream SA is of three hours duration conducted from 9:30 AM to 12: 30 PM.

KVPY SX

  • KVPY exam is a three hours computer-based test of 160 marks. It comprises of 120 multiple choice questions divided into two parts. 
  • Part 1 has 80 questions of 1 mark each. 0.25 mark is deducted for every wrong answer. 
  • Part 2 has 40 questions of 2 marks each. 0.5 mark is deducted for every wrong answer. 
  •  KVPY exam for stream SX will be conducted in afternoon from 2:00 AM to 5:00 PM

KVPY SB

  • KVPY exam is a three hours duration test consisting of 120 multiple choice questions. The test is computer-based of 160 marks. 
  • Part 1 will consist of 80 questions. Students will get 1 mark for every right answer. For every wrong answer, there is a negative marking of 0.25 mark. 
  • Part 2 will consist of 40 questions. Students will get 2 marks for every right answer. For every wrong answer, there is a negative marking of 0.5 mark.
  •  KVPY exam will be conducted in afternoon from 2:00 AM to 5:00 PM for SB Stream.

KVPY mock test 2018 will be available soon. It enables the candidate to experience actual exam environment. Not only they get well versed with exam pattern, they also get to know about their weak areas which need to be focused more on.

KVPY admit card will be released in the second week of October, 2018 in online mode. Candidates can download it entering their login details. Admit card of KVPY contains details regarding candidates roll no., name, exam centre, photograph, signature, exam slot etc. Admit card is an essential component to sit for the exam. No student is allowed to enter exam hall without admit card.

IISc announces the KVPY result 2018 for aptitude test in the third week of December, 2018 in the online mode. Students can download the result according to streams in pdf format and search by entering their roll no. Based on the performance in the aptitude test, students are called for interviews.

KVPY releases the official answer key online within a week after the exam. It helps the candidate to analyze their answers and calculate their probable score. KVPY 2018 answer key can be downloaded in pdf format separately for all three streams i.e SA, SB and SX.

Cut off is the minimum qualifying score calculated combined for aptitude test and interview. The students who qualify the KVPY cut off are eligible to avail KVPY scholarship.
