Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) Result Analysis Over The Last Four Years

In December 2021, about 18 lakh candidates registered for Paper 1, and 16 lakh Paper 2 respectively for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) . In March 2022 when the result was declared, only 30 per cent cleared Paper 1 and just 17.2 per cent were successful in Paper 2, out of the appeared candidates.

Teachers play an important role in building the nation that’s why it is one of the significant pillars of the country. As per the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009 the government recruits a number of teachers across the country. The Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) conducts the CTET exam across the country for recruiting teachers for central government teaching jobs.

Overall Analysis Of CTET: Latest Year

CTET December 2021 result was declared on March 09, 2022, around four lakh students who registered for the exam did not appear for the test. As compared to Paper 1, lesser students registered for Paper 2. But more students qualified in Paper 1 than in Paper 2.

Eligibility For CTET Exam

The National Council for Teacher Education frames CTET eligibility. The bare minimum requirement for aspirants to apply for the CTET exam is that they must have cleared Class 12, diploma or graduate with a minimum of 50 per cent marks.

Career Opportunities After CTET

Students can avail the various opportunities after successfully cracking the CTET exam as mentioned below-

  • Candidates can be recruited as government teachers at various government schools such as - Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board, Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board, central schools, and Army Public School.

  • CTET candidates get a higher pay scale as compared to the candidates without the CTET certificate.

Change in four years

In the last four years, the number of exam cities has doubled because the number of candidates is increasing. But the number of examination centers has been reduced drastically in 2021.

Qualified Candidates: Over The Last Four Years

Since 2018, the percentage of qualified candidates showed an increasing trend but in 2021 a decline of 2.7 per cent point was noticed.

Paper 1 is for candidates who intend to be a teacher for class I to class 5, while paper 2 is for class 6 to class 8. Candidates can apply for both papers and be teaching at both levels.
