Analysis of the Maharashtra State Board class 12 Chemistry previous year question papers brings out certain significant trends that can guide students in their preparation. During the last few years, the question papers have maintained a balanced mix of theoretical problems and numerical problems, pointing toward the comprehensiveness of the prescribed syllabus. Some key trends that were spotted are as follows:
Year 2024: The very recent paper in 2024 comprises a balanced mixture of topics; however, questions on solid state, chemical kinetics, and polymers have been predominantly featured. Some of the practical-based and experiment-based questions were on trends of modernity towards application-based learning. That is the way of the times in education and one of the major moves by the Maharashtra board towards application-based learning.
Year 2023: The 2023 paper had slightly different questions but still maintained a heavy focus on Organic Chemistry and Solutions. Some specific areas that were significantly assessed include reaction mechanisms, alcohols, phenols, ethers, and types of solutions. This could be due to the emerging trend to adapt the examination content according to entrance examinations to various fields, including Medical and Pharmaceutical studies. This means an emphasis on some foundational concepts that are very fundamental in higher studies within these fields.
Year 2022: The paper in 2022 was majorly focused on Physical Chemistry, with emphasis on thermodynamics, chemical kinetics, and chemical equilibrium. Many questions were numerically based, especially those on reaction rates, activation energy, and the equilibrium constant, another hallmark of applications of chemistry as against its mere comprehending phase. This emphasis is part of a more universal trend in education toward problem-solving and analytical skills.
While preparing for the Maharashtra Class 12 Chemistry examination, remember that regular practice and consistency are your best friends. PYQs will give you the significant edge you need in filtering important topics and making you aware of what types of questions to anticipate. Use summary notes, flashcards, and regular revision to stamp the concepts in your mind. Also, do not hesitate to ask for help whenever needed. Keep at it, and your speed and accuracy will come. It requires only a well-planned strategy with a dedicated effort to enable you to excel in your Chemistry exam, setting a very strong base for your studies in the future. Keep yourself motivated, be consistent, and believe you can do it. Good luck!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
The consistently recurring concepts in the Maharashtra Class 12 Chemistry are topics of Thermodynamics, Electrochemistry, Organic Reaction Mechanisms, Coordination Chemistry, and Chemical Equilibrium. They are very central to the theme of chemistry and often tested to see if the student has a tight grasp of some of the more important principles.
The major topics asked in the Maharashtra Class 12 Chemistry paper are Solid State, Solutions, Chemical Kinetics, Coordination Compounds, the branches of Organic Chemistry, that is, Haloalkanes and Haloarenes, Alcohols, Phenols, Ethers, Aldehydes, Ketones, Carboxylic Acids, Polymers, Thermodynamics, Electrochemistry and Chemical Equilibrium.
The 2024 Chemistry paper introduced concepts at higher levels in different topics, such as the various crystal types in Solid State, complex scenarios on colligative properties in Solution, and advanced techniques of polymerization in Polymers. Also added were practical questions or experiment-based ones to infuse application-based learning.
The 2023 paper inclined more toward the practical applications of organic reactions, tending specifically to their usage in pharmaceuticals and other petrochemical industries. Other than that, it puts a focus on the solubility product and common ion effect in the Solutions and practical aspects of reaction kinetics in Chemical Kinetics.
The 2022 paper focused on the basics—unit cells and packing efficiency in Solid State, basic concentration terminology in Solutions, and the basics of mechanisms in Organic Chemistry. The emphasis was also slightly given to basic nomenclature and bonding theories in Coordination Compounds.

Dear candidate ,
Since you completed both Class X and XII in Maharashtra, even without originally selecting " domicile " , you can claim Type A Maharashtra State candidature during MHT - CET CAP . This category applies when your qualifying exam was taken in Maharashtra, and you are domiciled in the state - meeting both criteria ( XII in Maharashtra and domicile certificate) . Even if you initially selected " open " , you can change your category to SEBC or corresponding state type at CAP registration , and thereafter , you will be eligible under the SEBC reservation in engineering admissions .
hi,
Since you completed your 12th from Maharashtra, you will mostly be eligible for the Maharashtra state quota in colleges. Just living in Madhya Pradesh doesn’t usually make you eligible for the MP state quota unless you have an official domicile certificate from MP.
So, without MP domicile, you can apply under Maharashtra’s quota. If you have MP domicile, then you might be able to apply under MP quota too.
