IISc Bangalore, the conducting body of KVPY has not set any specific syllabus for the exam. However, students should prepare from the KVPY books, that are applicable to their streams. According to the official body, "students are tested for the syllabus up to class 10/11/12/ 1st year of B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. as applicable. The KVPY syllabus covers subjects pertaining to Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry. After analysing KVPY question papers and sample papers, we have compiled a list of topics from where questions are asked in the test.
Once students study from the KVPY preparation books, they should test themselves to understand their preparation level. The best way to do this is by taking the online KVPY mock test offered by IISc Bangalore. The KVPY mock tests are released for each stream - SA, SX and SB separately. the part is that students do not have to have any login id or password for taking the mock test. the window shows a box for login ID and password, students can directly 'sign in' without submitting the same. The mock test will help you to understand and acclimate yourself to the computer testing mode. It also helps you to analyse your time management skills. Candidates should read the instructions carefully before taking the mock test of KVPY.
Besides taking mock tests, students can also prepare by solving sample papers and question papers of KVPY. For this, students should first study from the list of KVPY books mentioned above. Students can also check the KVPY Topper's tips to
