The Rajasthan Board 10th English paper consists of 54 questions totalling 80 marks, to be completed in 195 minutes (3 hours 15 minutes). Nearly 47% of the paper (38 marks) consists of 1-mark questions (MCQs, Blanks, VSA). This makes it high-scoring if your concepts are clear, but requires speed to handle 38 small questions within the first 90 minutes.
The paper is divided into four major sections, with the textbooks carrying more than half the total weight.
Students will have internal choices (OR questions) for specific long-answer and writing tasks (specifically noted for question numbers 3, 4, 5, and 11–19).
Grammar Priority: While Grammar is only 10 marks, "Tenses" is the highest-weightage topic within it (4 marks).
The "Essay" type questions are allotted 15 minutes each (3 questions for 45 mins). Don't over-write; stick to the word limit to save time.
The "Very Short Answer" section takes the most time relative to marks (42 mins for 14 marks) because it involves writing one-line answers for each.
16 marks come from Unseen Passages. Since these require no prior memorisation, practising 10–15 passages before the exam can guarantee a 20% score boost.
Focus heavily on the First Flight textbook and MCQ practice, as these two areas combined account for the majority of the marks needed to cross the 90% threshold.
Question Type | No. of Qs | Marks per Q | Total Marks | Suggested Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Multiple Choice (MCQs) | 18 | 1 | 18 | 36 Mins |
Fill in the Blanks | 6 | 1 | 6 | 12 Mins |
Very Short Answer | 14 | 1 | 14 | 42 Mins |
Short Answer | 9 | 2 | 18 | 36 Mins |
Long Answer | 4 | 3 | 12 | 24 Mins |
Essay/Descriptive | 3 | 4 | 12 | 45 Mins |
TOTAL | 54 | — | 80 | 195 Mins |
The RBSE 10th science syllabus is divided into Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Environmental Science.
This section is moderately difficult but highly scoring.
Focus: "Acids, Bases, and Salts" and "Carbon Compounds" carry the highest weightage (7 marks each).
Tip: Focus on chemical equations and the structural formulas of carbon compounds.
This is the most time-consuming section because of the diagrams.
Focus: Life Processes (8 marks) is the most important chapter in the entire syllabus.
Tip: Practice diagrams like the Human Alimentary Canal, Heart, and Excretory System
This section involves numerical problems and ray diagrams.
Focus: Light (8 marks) and Electricity (7 marks) are the heavy hitters.
Tip: Master the lens/mirror formulas and circuit diagrams. In "Magnetic Effects," focus on Fleming’s rules.
Focus: Easiest section. Focus on Food Chains and Ozone Layer Depletion.
Priority 1 (The "8-Mark" Chapters): Start with Life Processes and Light. These two chapters alone provide 16 marks (20% of your theory paper).
The "Gap" Strategy: Notice that "Heredity" and "Human Eye" are only 4 marks each. Don't spend weeks on these; focus on the high-weightage chapters first.
Numerical vs. Theory:
Electricity (7 marks): Expect at least one 3-mark numerical.
Acids, Bases (7 marks): Expect "Case-based" or "Reaction-based" questions.
Attempting the Paper: Since you have 195 minutes (3 hours 15 mins) for 80 marks, use the first 15 minutes to identify which 4-mark "Descriptive" questions from the high-weightage chapters you feel most confident about.
The "Big Three" priority list is 28 marks total. If students master these three areas, they are guaranteed a high score because they are predictable and high-weightage in RBSE 10th maths syllabus:
Statistics (13 Marks): This is the highest-weightage chapter. It usually includes one large 4-mark question on finding the Mean, Median, or Mode using a table.
Trigonometry (8 Marks): Focus on the T-ratio table and the fundamental identities
Coordinate Geometry (7 Marks): This is "easy money." Master the Distance Formula and Section Formula.
Geometry & Mensuration (21 Marks Total), which includes chapters 6, 10, 11, and 12, requires visualisation.
Triangles & Circles (10 Marks): Expect proofs of theorems.
Surface Areas (6 Marks): Requires memorising formulas for spheres, cones, and cylinders.
Algebra (16 Marks Total) chapters 1, 2, 3, and 4 are consistent at 4 marks each. These are great for scoring in the MCQ and Short Answer sections.
Download: Get the RBSE 10th Model Answer Books 2026 from the RBSE site.
The "Reverse Engineering" Method: Read a question, write your own answer, and then compare it to the topper's answer.
Identify Gaps: Incorporate those missing elements into your next practice session.
